I am about to send this link to Charley informing her of this post made this day, I know she will see this and find her way here to this post. So here goes-

Hi darling, yes its Dad. Can you see all the responses to your story sweetie? Your story has touched lives. Sometimes in life to be humble means humbling oneself enough to tell others instead of keeping it all inside. These are the times when the Lord blesses and inspires others in His love darling.

I know your heart and I know how you think but never be afraid to speak out if it means another Christian brother or sister can be drawn closer to Jesus by a simple but powerful story. It is about Him all the way, not us.

Darling this is the world wide web and others have read this story from all the four corners of God’s precious earth. And as you know, your dad is never afraid to proclaim his love, I take this moment to focus on you (Yes I can hear you say- Oh Dad, no!!!)

Darling I remember when you started your studies in university and how proud I was. To be truthful I was a little taken aback when you wanted to study full time at Bible College and then part time, the worldly man in me struggled. But now I see and with Gods direction and leading in my life, that he has a purpose for you. My thoughts of your career path mean nothing when I see what Jesus is doing in your life this day. Quite simply darling you are meant to be where you are, you are following your heart and more importantly Gods leading, how can this old man not be proud?

The tears I cried when watching you being born continues on this day. Not tears of sorrow or even fear but instead tears of joy and utter love, love for you- I love you darling. You may think dad teaches you much but to be truthful you have taught me much more. Your simple faith has inspired me more than words can say Charley. I may be your father but you have a greater father in heaven that cares and loves you more than I ever can. Follow Him darling in all the paths and ways of your life, never be afraid, for He never leaves nor forsakes and remember the most important thing- His love which lasts forever and never changes, His love for us

It just goes to show that God is no respector of persons and He loves everyone no matter what they look like. Everyone is a child of the most high and He wants us the Body of Christ to reach out to all the hurting souls out there.

Paul, In more ways than one, your daughter Charley was used as a vessel and instrument of the Almighty God to save this person's life from going into the Pit of destruction. To God be the Glory!!!!

Rita Diane, you have a heart of gold. May God bless you for reaching out to that lonely frail elderly lady that needed prayer that day.. By the grace of God you did move a mountain that day..

This is what it is all about that when we walk in boldness or do it afraid, it was Charley's act of obedience that saved a life - for the moment, and for eternity. Praise His Name and thank you for this Paul!

I'm going to go back and re-read your last post of your daughter's amazing spirit filled sojourns. If I remember right it was powerful as well. Thank you Paul, for sharing.

That was truly beautiful. We serve such an incredible, loving God. Bless Charley for being obedient. My heart rejoices that we may see this rough-around-the-edges, marshmellow inside fella as our brother-in-Christ. I am praying for him, as soon as I post this comment.

Lord, You are soooo good. So faithful. So gracious. Things like this completely overwhelm me sometimes. He is so amazing!

OK, here come the waterworks...

Last year at the grocery store I silently prayed for a frail elderly woman. The Holy Spirit prompted me to tell her so I did. There were tears in her eyes when I told her what I had prayed. She proceeded to tell me how she had asked GOD that morning for someone to pray for her. She was lonely and had no one who seemed to care about her. How many times have we missed opportunities when simple words of encouragement would make such a difference in someone's life?

My daughter Charley as some you may know through my postings of her writings and updates, works in ministry. Over the Easter break Charley came down to my house to visit Dad, such a special time. During the course of the weekend Charley told me a story of what happened to her a few years ago, at first I was surprised that she had not told me this story before now. As Charley spoke, she spoke fast. I know my daughter like any father knows his child and when she does this (talks fast) I know it means something of great importance to her. Once Charley started she was like a train, I quickly sensed this was something I should really hear and what I heard brought tears to my eyes. Afterwards I asked Charley why she had not told this story to me before now. She informed me that only a couple of people knew. I knew from her demeanour and words why she would feel this way, she did not want this story to bring praises to herself but instead Jesus and that is why nobody has heard till now, this has been her reasoning. I told Charley as a father that these types of stories need to be told and when heard no one would consider it a boast or an ego boost in her direction, instead they would see Jesus, God’s hand and love in action.

These types of stories are the exact things the church needs to hear in this day and age. This story is about God, Jesus alone and may he receive all the glory and may His church be inspired to reach out in love.

This is Charley’s story told by her Dad with approval-

A few years ago Charley had just completed her high schooling; starting school early in life Charley was still 17 years ready to start university. During this period Charley was invited to attend a Christian camp over in New Zealand, a little apprehensive at first Charley took this offer and flew out of Australia to begin 1 year of work in Christian camping. While in New Zealand Charley also attended a bible college which would set the path in ministry to where and who she is this day back in Australia.

Over the course of her stay in New Zealand Charley and her new friends would explore the sights and sounds of another country. Travelling here and there between work and study commitments, Charley saw a lot of New Zealand and loved not only the people but also the country.

One particular day Charley was with friends in a city, if I remember rightly she did say the city of “Wellington”? Like any normal city this place was alive with people going about their daily business. While walking through this crowded area and past a bus stop Charley’s eyes made contact with a man sitting there, he made eye contact back with her. At this point Charley heard God speaking to her, a thump in the heart by the Holy Spirit, “Tell this man that I love him”.

A second take, another detailed look of the man sitting at the bus stop made Charley’s breath stop in hesitation, this man was not your normal guy. The man sitting at the bus stop was the type from a movie; picture a large man full of tattoos, mean looking and ready to rip you apart if you rattled his feathers. His face was even tattooed and a thing that Charley noticed was that under each eye was “Tears” tattooed as if falling down his cheeks.

“No way Lord, I cannot go to a man like that and tell him that you love him, look at me, he would rip me apart” Again Charley heard the Spirit saying “This is what I want you to do Charley, Say Jesus loves you”.

Charley at 17 years old and a 5 ½ foot slightly built person now felt very vulnerable in this strange city even though she was with her friends. “Jesus loves you” a throw a round term used often in Christian circles but to a 17 year old Charley wanted to say something different, more upbeat and modern to this man, something in line with her generation. But again the Spirit said “No, this is what I want from you”.

Charley now had a choice to make

Turning to a fellow friend a male, Charley drew his attention to the man sitting at the bus stop and told him that she had to tell him that “Jesus loved him”. Very quickly upon seeing the man the fellow male friend declined and walked away from Charley, “No way am I going to approach him”. Turning again to another male friend and this time not telling the poor boy of her intentions she just said to him, “I cannot tell you, but please come with me, I need you with me right now”.

I almost laughed as Charley told me the next part of the story because I imagined her fear but I knew the strength the Lord would provide. Approaching this tattooed man at the bus stop his gaze took in this young girl now approaching him. “Excuse me, please do not get angry with me or hurt me, I have been told that I need to tell you something very important. I believe in Jesus who is the Lord God and he wants me to tell you that>>> Jesus loves you”.

Standing there while shaking in her boots Charley waited, suddenly the tattooed and angry face softened and within an instant Charley saw not tattooed tears but real tears fall down the cheeks of this man face. Upon seeing this Charley then asked him if he would like to go somewhere private where she could pray, suddenly the realisation hit her that they were in the middle of a busy city full of people. He said yes to her request. Only moments beforehand the street that Charley had walked through with her friends was full of people, shoulder to shoulder room only. Now upon looking Charley saw not one soul on that same street.

A prayer was said and then Charley informed this man that she was from out of town, in fact another country. She gave him some phone numbers of people who he could talk too, local outreach numbers and also she gave him her own private phone number.

A day or so later Charley received a phone call, a call from the man she had met at the bus stop. He asked her if she could meet him for a chat back in the same city. Again Charley took a friend along with her and the meeting place was a local bar / café. After a little talk, introductions and a thank you from the man, he then proceeded to tell his story-

“I have been feeling very low in life and I do not know your Jesus, your God but I do know this. Only moments before you came up to me and spoke those words I had said these words myself.”-
“God if there is a God then you better show me who you are, because if you do not, when I get home from my bus ride, tonight I am going to take my life, I have had enough”

Moments later the man heard these words - JESUS LOVES YOU

Remember when they captured Saddam "Hussein" he was hidden under ground in a well like structure.

Now who is the other Hussein?

From a lowly well to the most powerfull man alive...

I also like to remind people, "it pleased the LORD to bruise Him."

When "The Passion of the Christ" was out (I'll bit my tongue on that), I also reminded people who "felt sorry" for the Savior or even "wept" for Him that He told women who there to see the real thing, "Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck."

The loving Savior, in the middle of His Father's will, was ever concerned about His brethren according to the flesh and pointed ahead to their prophesied Tribulation and its precursor in AD 70.

Jesus made it very clear here, he was not killed, or murdered, he went voluntarily to die on the cross.

yes, this is so true bonnie, dont have many country club friends but yes to worrying about so much irrelevance in the world, though having small chat with unhappy teenager today, see so many lonely people everywhere. without christ. try to plant few seeds where i can and pray. but i'd still rather be watching bible prophesy, any day ...

It's jarring how long eternity is ~~ and more alarming that a majority of mankind thinks this 'life' is all there is ~~ never considering 'humanism' are dead men walking (for Jesus has announced mankind is spiritually dead without Him) . . even Peggy Lee's song sang it out in a question she couldn't answer though it was in the Bible all along~
"is that ALL there is? . . Is THAT all there is? . . cuz that's all . ."

The awakened know this is NOT all there is ~~ our Risen Savior has promised a blessed eternity with Him, in His full Presence ~~ no wonder we can't wait to gaze on our beloved Creator and Lord~

But... a few years after we'd moved out of that neighborhood, the man must have sold his house. It had been torn down, the trees were gone, the fence and rhodies were non-existent and the lot was overgrown. There was a company building town-homes where this guy's huge lot used to be.

I just sat there in my car and was so sad. His house and yard had been so beautiful, and now, it was an overgrown, empty lot. I could hear the Spirit whispering to me that day, everything we do is "vanity" that is not caring for and nurturing the SOUL. It is the ONLY work that matters. Scripture says our lives are here today and tomorrow tossed into the fire -- just like those rhodies and trees and grass that man loved so much.

It's all vanity! Cultivate the soul and keep your eye on eternal things, where the moth does not eat and rust does not destroy.
