The problem as I see it, that too many in this nation don't appreciate education for what it is, and misapply it . Many have substituted education for personal growth. Over the years, I have run into what I call "educated idiots", who can boast of various degrees, yet can't think themselves out of paper bag. Having no common sense, and usually unable the master even the smallest of life's tasks, they are basically as useless as a train wreck. Most men of knowledge usually admit that the more they learn, the less they know! Not to mention a great number of Americans who have sold their soul and owe great amounts in subsidies to the Government, for the sake of higher education. Being "professional" students, not working nor seeking employment, but merely avoiding paying back student loans! Many who have kept "perspective" have done well. Whereas many who don't are filled with empty pride, with regards to the education they have stolen. No matter how much education one might gain, common sense cannot be taught. Not surprising that it is the educated elite that forsake the knowledge of God first, rather than appreciate His great handiwork!!!

Needle me, you,ve needled this false god fair and square, and so true.
I never did finish my psychology degree started years ago because it annoyed me so much. They were so finicky about references etc. you were not allowed write. ,I think....'. You had to say 'evidence has shown' ... And then call it a science degree in the end. Of course there were some interesting things about it, but it's main goal was to turn you into a critical thinker. As if that was an end in itself. Block yourself from all wonder and divinity in the world.
More sense in the old grandmothers up at the school yard who never finished school. I am not joking. They have life wisdom, Unlike Freud, dennett and all those atheist dudes.
I agree too about the fitness thing becoming a new god. Facebook is full of folk recording their latest marathon speed etc. I am not knocking marathons per se. Just noticing the tragedy of putting all these idols in place of God. As my aunty used to say when she saw a jogger, why don't they clean their windows instead of wasting all that energy? Or better still, clean an elderly neighbour,s. I can admit I never do that. But do drop by regularly to my golden oldies. I learn so much from my 80 something best friend. Maybe because she belonged to a time where life still made sense. And universities were not seen as gods. Lastly, one young 14 year old killed herself here because her results were not 'good enough'. No one is telling them the only truth that matters in the education system, that each one of us is loved unconditionally by God. So much so, he sent Jesus to die, instead of us.
To me, third level education seems to be going the wrong direction. Like the media. Like so much in today,s world. All like sheep, have gone astray.

refurb rogue, I, too, am here in SC. Today, I FACEBOOKED something I drew on my paint software. Since I dont see a "upload photo" thingy on this page, I'll describe it to you. It is in red and simply says Merry Christmas, but in place of the word Christ is a brown cross then the m-a-s....I sent it to all my friends that are bothered by the taking out of Him from a holy-day that was created in honor of Him to begin with. The only way they can ever take Him out of it is to cancel it as a national holiday altogether, and then the truth will still stand, regardless of what is officially recognized. They cant run from THAT.

Harvard University was the first institute of higher learning in America, as well as America's first corporation. It's original motto was
“Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae” Truth for Christ and the Church

This motto has been abandoned for the shorter: “Veritas” Truth

The problem isn't education itself, but what is given value in that education. I'm reminded of Acts 26:24 "At this point Festus interrupted Paul's defense. "You are out of your mind, Paul!" he shouted. "Your great learning is driving you insane." Festus was mistaken.

Or for those in finals week: Ecclesiastes 12:11-12 "The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd. But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body."

In 1967, in the Six-Day War, Israel took back Jerusalem; some historians will tell you that the US didn't exactly support Israel in that war (and we know how the Lord looks on Israel). 1967 was the Summer of Love in San Francisco -- the beginning of the sexual revolution and the popularization of drugs. 1967 was some other things, too, that I don't remember, but all of them adding up to the beginning of the downfall of the United States.

I was at the mid-point of high school, and 1967 was also the year I began to see an attitude in my fellow students: "It's not cool to work hard." "Just do the minimum to get by."

And it all went downhill from there.

wonderful post! my little girl is in kindergarten right now..but this is because i have to work right now. I will be homeschooling next year..i claim this in the name of Jesus. We will continue to pay our tithes and follow God's instructions and He is going to make a way for me to homeschool my children. This year in our school district (and I live in South Carolina..in a very "christian" town) was the first year that no mention of the word "christmas" was allowed in the elementary school "winter holiday chorus concert"..the chorus teacher goes to my church and she refused to put one on this year because of it. I went into highschool as a child of God..on fire for the Lord..holy ghost filled and ready to win everyone to Christ..by the 10th grade..I was doing cocaine, drinking, stealing, having sex..the list goes on. It is only by the grace of God and healing power of the blood of Jesus that I am alive today. from my experience..sending your kids to public school is like sending them to battle. I yearn for my Lord to come quickly. I dont want my children growing up in this dark dark world.

I have a teaching degree and taught in an alternative school for one year. I went into it hoping to educate and share my love for language. What I found was that I was a baby sitter for the state. There was little education going on in class, just a constant battle to maintain order. Aside from a few lovely exceptions, the majority of the children had it as their goal to have me removed from the school. In the end, they won. Their parents could not control them, either.

My experience was unpleasant. There are many dedicated and godly teachers out there who deserve our respect. Nevertheless, I am fully convinced that the educational system in this country has collapsed, and has been in a state of decline for many decades. I am also persuaded that it is intentional, as the control of local areas and the parents has been stripped away by political interests. The "dumbing down" has been deliberate.

Much could be said about the motives. It is too much to cover here. But the abandonment of teaching objective facts in favor of affective education and Progressive socialization has led to degrees that are worthless. If anyone pursues a higher education, the universities have to offer remedial classes that teach what the high schools did not, or perhaps what the students refused to learn, and yet were allowed to pass. Additional damage is done when students are loaded up with useless classes to earn degrees in fields that offer no practical way to earn a living, and an economy that is doing so badly that even in the "best" fields there is no hope of finding employment.

I would advise anyone to find something they love doing and to get some vocational training. Unless you plan to spend the rest of your life contemplating sociology or philosophy, you'll come out much better knowing how to fix an air conditioner or unclog a drain.

Hi needle me...I concur completely!!!! This is big in my extended family. They are doctors and what not from big universites. I have my Master's from an virtually unknown university and it is like..eehh whatever as if I didn't get it. In addition, my husband has his Bachelor's that he completed the last bit on-line and again it's eehh whatever and he is VP of a large tech company and still eehh whatever. Well, let me just say this right here and get this off my chest. I came from nothing (lower middle class), and currently am nothing and will always be nothing. Who I am, my worthiness, why I get up every morning is because of Christ and the Cross alone and His blessings. Whew...feels good to say that out loud (so to speak)!
He has given us all wisdom to even pass a single test, wisdom in everyday life, opportunities at work, checks coming in the mail like I don't even know how, and on and on....

You know what too...I think working out is big farce too. I mean it's good to move around and eat well which is what I do and am at a healthy weight...but it is Christ's strength that I even eat well (juicing, no sugar, no gluten). NO donuts or bagels gets me. He gave me the wisdom around it and how the Babylon system feeds you garbage. Glory to God! Thanks for the post...I could go on and on.

Thank you Jesus!!

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Education – Have you noticed that there is a lot of useless “filler” in the “education” our children receive and that both young and older adults are heavily encouraged to pursue? Ever that it is pushed by the government so much? Why is that?

Here is some things I believe the Lord made plain to me this morning. Prayerfully, you can glean the jist of this topic in such a way that encourages your spiritual growth, as it is mine.

Education has become somewhat of a false god, especially in this country. While useful education is of great benefit to us (remember the 3 R’s…Reading, wRiting, and aRithmatic?), the saying “Too much of a good thing can make you sick” is quite true……and in this case, spiritually sick. Please don’t hear me totally knocking education. Learning is in fact good if used in moderation, to teach our children to communicate for every day life, to train for a specific specialty or trade for career or hobby purposes, to learn of historical mistakes and not repeat them, etc. I’m not trying to paint education as “the great satan”; learning truly does have its place. Education has served me well in my 46 years, but I am seeing how too much of it, whether stemming from an addiction to “knowledge” or fear of failure, lack, abandonment, ridicule, etc, can hurt the Christian journey. It doesn’t “feel” good, stroke our flesh nature to look at it from that angle, but can be eye opening. So brush down the fur standing up on your back if it is all “bristly” right now and stay with me….I promise, it’s worth it!
Anything that becomes “political agenda” makes me go ‘tilt’ and as I was pondering the “education” platform, I saw some things. The governmental push for education has become such a loud issue in the media and huge issue on the ballots….citing more reasons why we need to learn this, know about that, even to the point of so called “vital necessity”, fluffing up useless topics as a “staple” diet for the “average” person, appealing to our sense of pride for how much we know, and on and on.
Paul said to Timothy “O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.” (1 Tim 6:20-21)
The “encouragement” for more and more of mans wisdom (again, the unnecessary over-consumption) may very well be a tool of the enemy, not only designed to replace godly wisdom and knowledge, but also to squeeze and squash out time and opportunity for cultivating the wisdom of God that comes from and through the Spirit. America especially has largely become “spiritually” ignorant - not of being intellectually knowledgeable of the word of God… I mean anyone can read a book and gain some sort of understanding of what it says. What I’m talking about is more than that. It is a crucifying of the fleshly perceived need to “learn more”, embracing the fact of our true need, knowledge gained by listening to and learning from God Himself, what His word means, what His heart is saying to mankind, to me, to you. It is sad to say….many Christians can’t find their own spirit with both hands and a flashlight. Herein is a great example of the need for “good education”, for it is not just useful, but vital to know your own spirit. How can you “rule” it, if you don’t know it? Proverbs 25:28 says “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.” Sounds vital to me, doesn’t it to you?
. And as a result of our spiritual ignorances, we have become crippled and it shows…..in the declining moral status of our country, in our politics, in our legislations, in our relationships! The seductive need for more knowledge has become an idol in America
If MY people, which are called by MY name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will HEAL THEIR LAND. (caps mine) 2 Chronicles 7:14
One true need, the need for discipleship is incredulous. And we are Christians! Imagine how dark and blinded the lost truly are. Have mercy, Lord.
“Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.” (1 Corinthians 3:18-20)
There is a source of knowledge, of wisdom beyond what we can learn with our natural understanding. If you notice, wisdom, as the world defines it, comes from years and years of learning and experience. But God’s wisdom can come not only this way, but often comes instantly, where His Spirit speaks something into your spirit, He opens up the eyes of your understanding and your soul is enabled by the Holy Spirit to interpret what He is saying. In a milli-second or less, God can explain something to you that is so totally AWEsome and mind blowing, it seems like it could very well take days, weeks to explain it! Knowledge so pure and uncut, it unfolds inside of you layer by layer and causes you to know beyond knowing intellectually, this knowledge becoming entwined into the very fiber of your entire being and becomes a permanent part of you..…you know that you know that you KNOW! This type of “education” is what I am talking about! The enemy would stop at NOTHING to steal this precious way of learning from you. He has indeed pulled out all the stops in these last days. In Daniel 12:4, it says “O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” I truly believe THIS is what God was talking about. I have been experiencing it myself since almost 2 years ago….and I have been saved for 31 years now. Never in my first 29 years did I receive as much revelation supernaturally from the Lord of this magnitude until then. I love that, as it confirms to me personally, we are indeed in the “time of the end”, as the scripture says.
Hopefully this speaks to you as it has to me. Be encouraged, brothers and sister. We are closer than we have ever been.

~Vicki

Worldly wisdom, (especially in this country) mocks God's Patience, His Goodness, expecting the sun to still shine, the coastal beaches continue their waves, the birds to keep singing, the flowers keep blooming, and the sunsets to continue ~~ "the soul that sins will surely die" is laughed at~~ drip, drip, drip is increased iniquity and sin not hidden from our God, spiraling head on toward His wrath ~~!

the wisdom of god. Worldly wisdom tries to limit the power of

god and sometimes even try to take god out of the picture.

Godly wisdom cannot come from this world it has come from god

himself.

Scripture is so helpful in this area . . thank God for the WORD . .

The apostle Paul had more to forget than most, huh, sis.

The convesion of Paul is truly miraculous. What GRACE!

Paul least expected as Saul of Tarsus, being converted by the Power of the Glorious Risen Lord, touched by the Light of the true Messiah Jesus Christ.

Saul so steeped in the law before he 'became' Paul put his past behind him when touched by Christ. Paul learned the value of Grace . . . Christ's purpose was made perfect in Paul's ministry, huh,. a strong testimony and witness of Christ's GRACE to the church.

"...but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" . . . . Philipians 3:13
