The Syrian army has begun deploying advanced surface-to-surface missiles, the report said, adding that it has received orders to strike central Israel in case additional attacks against Syria are carried out.

It is becoming more clear to me that war is going to break out in the Middle East at some point. Israel is now surrounded by hostile enemies, including factions in Jordan, who want to see the Jewish state pushed into the sea. The entire region is at best unstable and at this point anything is possible.

Egypt is under the control of the Moslem Brotherhood, who has sworn to make Jerusalem the capital of the United Arab States. Of course the Israeli’s are not going to sit by idly and allow this to happen. To the North is Hezbollah in Lebanon, who have rearmed after the 2006 war with Israel, in which much of their forward positions were destroyed. However, they have rearmed and according to some INTEL they now have upward of 50,000 rockets at their disposal. They are also being funded and armed from Iran, via northern Iraq.

Syria is more fractured now than ever and it at this point it seems highly unlikely that what emerges from over two years of civil war will look anything like the Syria which was under the control of Bashar Al Assad. There are different factions vying for power including Iran, Hezbollah and Al Qaida, as well as war lords controlling villages. Damascus is being deconstructed brick by brick and this makes me wonder if we’re looking at the beginning of the Isaiah 17 prophecy being fulfilled.

In closing todays post. It is now late spring and this is the time kings go to war. I believe we will see some kind of conflict sooner than later. Some event will set the war off and Israel will enter into the Psalm 83 victory. The stage is now set, and all the players in this ancient prophecy are gathered together. All that remains is for them to act together against Israel, their hated enemy.

In the end what was written will come to pass. What was foretold will unfold.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

And so it seems that all of a sudden now it is okay if you’re a Muslim -- but if you’re a Christian, you’re a terrorist, you’re an extremist, and you’re a threat to the national security of the United States of America. Evil is now good, and good is now evil.

How, oh how has it come to this? how can humanity (especially this nation) embrace such evil, proud to hate what is righteous and good?. . Mankind was gifted with a conscience, ~~ oh God, what has humanity become?

If all of those things that will ultimately find their fulfillment in the seven-year Tribulation are beginning to come to pass now, then how close are we?

I would suggest we are very close and our redemption draws very nigh.

And that’s the take-away from all this. Simply put, we would do well to watch, be ready, because our redemption draws nigh.

Listen to the words of the Savior, recorded in Luke 21, verse 28:

“And when these things” -- key word -- “begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh.”

Incidentally, Luke 21:28 presupposes that you’ve been born again of the Spirit of God and your redemption is sealed by the Spirit of God. If not, Luke 21:28 does not apply to you: at least not yet, anyway.

See, Luke 21:28 only applies to those trusting the Savior, calling upon the name of the Lord, confessing with one’s mouth, and believing in one’s heart.

Now let me take it a step further and suggest that Bible prophecy was recorded in the pages of Holy Writ for this very purpose: that you might believe when you “see these things begin to happen.” When you see these things in Egypt begin to happen. When you see these things in Syria begin to happen.

It’s John’s gospel 14, verse 29 again: Jesus says, “I have told you now, before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe.”

In other words, Jesus is saying, “I’m going to tell you what’s going to happen in the Middle East before it happens, so when you start seeing it happen, you’ll believe. You’ll believe.”

If you’re here this morning and you have never called upon the name of the Lord -- or you’re unsure of your relationship in the Lord, I would implore you today to do something about it. Because again, the evidence is such that it would seem beyond reasonable doubt that we are closer than any of us may even begin to realize.

Would you pray with me?

Loving Heavenly Father, Thank You.

Thank You for recording in the pages of Scripture these details of what would happen in the Last Days before it would happen, so that we -- as this last generation -- begin to see these things happen, that it would cause us to look up, and lift up our heads, and loosen our grip upon this world and the things of this world, knowng that our redemption draws nigh.

And for those who don’t know You, Lord, that this would cause them to look up and call upon You, and receive from You the free gift of eternal life.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.

The burden against Damascus:

Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,
and it will be a ruinous heap.

Okay: I’m going to submit, as exhibit B, these continuing Israeli air strikes, which to me is evidence that Damascus, Syria, is on the cusp of total destruction, exactly as the prophet Isaiah foretold it would happen: this because Syria has now, as of this morning, declared war on the heels of Israel striking Damascus from Lebanese airspace, making it the second and even third, and likely the continuing of these strikes since January of this year.

And make no mistake about it, this waging of war, this threat of war, this “rumor of war,” as Jesus would say in Matthew 24, is not just a war against Israel, it’s a war against the United States with her, as well.

The jury may still be out on how, when, and by whom Syria will become a ruinous heap, but the verdict is in about who’s been found guilty in terms of what’s happening there on the ground in Syria.

You’re not going to hear this, by the way, in any of the media here in the United States, not even Fox. Sadly, Fox for the most part is owned by and beholden to Saudi Arabia investments. So you really cannot trust the news, sadly. Now let me explain why I say that.

There are those who have identified these so-called “Syrian freedom fighters.” And that’s what they call them. And at first glance, it sounds good, right? I mean -- freedom fighters? Well, we want to support the freedom fighters, don’t we?

Well, not so fast! As it turns out, these so-called “freedom fighters” or the so-called “opposition” is the Muslim Brotherhood jihadists who are fighting in Syria so as to duplicate in Syria that which they did in Egypt. In other words, the Muslim Brotherhood is trying to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad in Syria as they did President Hosni Mubarak in Egypt.

You know, what’s disturbing to me is that President Obama -- also breaking news this last week -- is now rethinking, reconsidering the arming of this so-called “Syrian opposition.” If he does that, then -- **pauses** -- Assad will be gone. And I think with it, according to Isaiah, so too will Damascus be gone as well.

Okay. Here’s why I believe that what’s happening just in Egypt and Syria alone is evidence that the Rapture is closer than any of us think: neither Egypt nor Syria is mentioned in the prophecy found in Ezekiel 38.

In Ezekiel 38 we have a list of nations (by their ancient names) that launch a nuclear attack against Israel at a time when she thinks she dwells safely. And the reason their absence has such significance is that something must happen to Egypt and Syria first in order for them to not be named in the Ezekiel 38 prophecy.

Enter another prophecy I’m sure you’re familiar with: Psalm 83. Now we’re not going to take the time to get into it today, but suffice it to say this and Isaiah’s prophecy may be fulfilled in concert one with another. You know, the great concern right now within the international community is that this could spark a war on the scale of a World War in the Middle East, starting there in Syria.

Now, to a nation, every single one of them listed in Psalm 83 are right now, present day, perfectly postured precisely as God’s Word said they would [be]. And as such, it could come to pass at any time. Isaiah 19, Isaiah 17, and Psalm 83. And by the way, in Psalm 83, we have listed the Hagarites and the Ishmaelites.

Well, who are they?

Well, Hagar, the Egyptian handmaid of Abraham and Sarah. Ishmael, the son born to Abraham and Hagar: these are clearly Egyptians. And so the thought is that Psalm 83, perhaps in concert with Isaiah 17 and Isaiah 19, would explain the absence of these nations: specifically Egypt and Syria.

Here’s my closing argument: If Isaiah 17 and Isaiah 19, along with Psalm 83, are about to come to pass, then how close are we to Ezekiel 38?

The reason I ask that and say that is because I’m convinced, based on the evidence and the details, that the Ezekiel 38 prophecy will happen after the Rapture. Now here’s how I get there:

Ezekiel 38 records specific details, chief of which is that Israel thinks she finally has lasting peace and security. That’s the only way that I can reconcile why it is that they would tear down their walls with their bars and their gates, those walls that were erected at the first Intifada in the year 2000.

Something has to happen that would cause Israel to remove those walls. I believe that it will come by way of approval being given to Israel to rebuild their Temple on the Temple Mount, I believe without disturbing the Dome of the Rock. And there’s again evidence for that being plausible as well. But that’s another topic for another time.

It seems to me that this would indicate the prophecy about the Antichrist enforcing the seven-year peace agreement in Daniel 9:27 would have alrady had to happen in order for Israel to bring those walls down. (We finally have peace, we dwell securely.)

An oracle concerning Egypt:

"I -- verse 2 -- will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian --
brother will fight against brother,
neighbor against neighbor,
city against city,
kingdom against kingdom.

The Egyptians -- verse 3 --will lose heart,
and I will bring their plans to nothing;
they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead,
the mediums and the spiritists.

The waters -- verse 5: listen! -- the waters of the river will dry up,
and the riverbed will be parched and dry.

also -- verse 7 -- the plants along the Nile,
at the mouth of the river.
Every sown field along the Nile
will become parched, will blow away and be no more.

I’m of the belief that the entire chapter of Isaiah 19 is coming to pass, even now, in real time. However, in the interest of time, we’re only going to examine verses 1 though 7. Actually verses 1 through 4, for the most part, have already happened, vis-à-vis the Arab Spring and the subsequent “cruel rule” of the Muslim Brotherhood President, Mohamed Morsi.

Be that as it may, it’s in light of verses 5 through 7 that I would like to submit Exhibit A, if you will. (Sorry for the legal jargon.) I believe it is evidence that this prophecy is happening now. This prophecy concerning the Nile River literally drying up and dwindling down, and in so doing, creating an unspeakable and unimaginable stench.

The New York Times documented this in an op ed that was published back in June of 2011. They titled it, “When the Nile Runs Dry.” Listen to what they had to say:

“As Egypt tries to fashion a functioning democracy after President Hosni Mubarak’s departure, land grabs to the south are threatening its ability to put bread on the table because all of Egypt’s grain is either imported or produced with water from the Nile River, which flows north through” -- interesting! -- “Ethiopia and Sudan” -- both of which are mentioned in Ezekiel 38 by their ancient names, but not Egypt: interesting!

The water “flows north through Ethiopia and Sudan before reaching Egypt. (Since rainfall in Egypt is negligible to nonexistent, its agriculture is totally dependent on the Nile.)

“Unfortunately for Egypt, two of the favorite targets for land acquisitions are Ethiopia and Sudan, which together occupy three-fourths of the Nile River Basin. Today’s ... growing water demand, driven by population growth and foreign land and water acquisitions, are straining the Nile’s natural limits....

“Demands for water are such that there is little left of the river when it eventually empties into the Mediterranean.”

In addition to The New York Times, Al Jazeerah also reported on the Nile drying up in a very interesting documentary (video documentary). It’s only a couple minutes long. They did it back in October of 2012, and the title of it was “Nile’s drying waterways stall Egypt’s growth.”

It’s really quite interesting, because the reporter for Al Jazeerah is scrambling in her describing of the stench as she’s there on site next to the Nile. And she’s talking about how that the canals are stagnant and they’re turning into rubbish dumps, and she’s actually sort of graphically describing what she’s smelling. And I won’t ruin your lunch, but it’s -- it -- no words can describe --

And I can attest to this, my wife and I, back in 1997, missed our train from Cairo to Alexandria and had to take a cab, and the drive in the cab, much of which was along the Nile with the windows open, because apparently they don’t have A/C in those cabs in Egypt -- just might want to let you know, if you’re planning a trip there (which I don’t think anybody should, by the way). But believe-you-me, we smelled the Nile! And that was a long time ago! And no words can describe how foul and even vile the stench was back then. It was indescribable; you could not even begin to describe it.

Good morning and welcome! If you’re visiting with us here today, we’re delighted to have you, glad that you came, trust that you’ll be blessed that you did. We begin each and every Sunday with a Prophecy Update: we devote a portion of our Sunday morning service to look at Bible prophecy. We believe that we’re living really in the last moments of world history as we know it.

I need to preface -- **laughs briefly** -- today’s Prophecy Update with, I guess, an apology of sorts: more so for our YouTube subscribers and Facebook friends. Apparently in getting a little bit too Palestinian last week I ... uh -- **congregation laughs** -- ... the decibel level got to a point where -- well, I guess we actually -- well: “we” -- I -- blew out people’s speakers on their computers. So for that I’m very sorry, and I’ll try to -- **with both hands, mimes the volume level going down in a vertical volume display ** -- keep it down.

For today’s update, I’ll begin with the breaking news from just this morning from Al Arabiyah News of yet another Israeli airstrike on Damascus. I don’t know if you heard -- actually it commenced on Friday morning, which would have been late Thursday night here in Hawaii. The Al Arabiyah headline reads, “Israel launches ‘airstrike’ on Syria again, rocking Damascus.”

Let me just read you a couple of excerpts from this article from this morning:

“Syria's residents were startled by heavy blasts that shook Damascus early Sunday” -- which would have been late last night for us, Sunday morning for them; right now it’s about 11 p.m. in Israel and Syria; so it happened Sunday morning for them -- “when Israeli warplanes targeted a military research center in the capital’s suburbs, Syrian state television reported....

“According to Reuters, a western intelligence source said on Sunday that the overnight attack targeted a missile shipment that was ‘in transit’ from Iran to Hezbollah....

“At least 40 blasts were heard across the capital following the alleged Israeli attack, which according to activists, targeted the Syrian government’s security forces sites in Damascus.”

Very interesting, and very profound in its implications.

Now we’re going to come back to Syria shortly, but this actually brings us to our fourth reason that the Rapture of the Church of Jesus Christ may in fact be closer than any of us may even realize.

Three weeks ago we looked at our first reason, which is this seemingly huge increase of those who scoff and mock anyone who dares talk about -- let alone teach on -- the return of Jesus Christ for His Bride. The apostle Peter writes that there will be those in the Last Days -- in fact, the Last Days will be marked by these scoffers and these mockers -- at even the mention of His return.

The second reason that we looked at is this seemingly-inevitable collapse of the United States, leading some to believe -- present company included -- that an American collapse may in fact explain America’s absence from the pages of Bible prophecy. It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that this is the last day for the United States of America, sadly.

Then last week we looked at a third reason, which is this astonishing and baffling acceptance of Islam as a peace-loving religion in this nation. It seems that we’re embracing Islam at the expense of Christianity. I don’t know how many of you heard this last week that there’s this individual by the name of Weinstein that is wanting all branches of our Armed Forces to court-martial Christians who proselytize. Interestingly, he’s making a distinction between proselytizing and evangelizing.

In other words, for those of you who serve in the military, if you overtly share your faith, you have now the propensity to be court-martialed because of it. Very interesting: just this last week! And so it seems that all of a sudden now it is okay if you’re a Muslim -- but if you’re a Christian, you’re a terrorist, you’re an extremist, and you’re a threat to the national security of the United States of America. Evil is now good, and good is now evil.

Okay, now for our fourth reason. It’s this precision-accuracy of Bible prophecy concerning specific nations in the Middle East today: namely Egypt and Syria, just to mention two. There are of course many others, but I would submit that specific Old Testament prophecies are coming to pass right before our very eyes, in real time, exactly as God’s Word said it would. I’ll take it a step further and suggest that it’s for this very reason, again, that the Rapture of the Church of Jesus Christ could happen at an hour we expect not. It can happen at any time.

Now I realize that saying this this way can be perceived as hyper-sensational, but please consider with me what I’ll call the forensic evidence, Biblically. By that I mean the investigating and analyzing of the evidence so as to identify, beyond a reasonable doubt, that these prophecies are true is plausible.

Let me say the same thing in a different way: if you do a forensic investigation, if you will, of what the Bible says will happen, and you look at the DNA evidence, if you please, as to what’s happening in the world today -- specifically in the Middle East today -- more specifically, in Egypt and Syria today -- one is forced to conclude, by virtue of the preponderance of evidence, that this is exactly what we were told would happen. The evidence is there.

Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

What I have found is that to understand the end, you have to understand the beginning- AND- To understand the beginning you have to understand the end.

Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Three rocket warning sirens sounded in Eilat Wednesday morning, April 17, alerting Israel’s southernmost town to falling Grad rockets fired from Sinai. One of the three exploded outside a residential district in the town. There is no immediate word on casualties. On April 4, DEBKAfile reported that southern Israel had been placed on alert on intelligence that al Qaeda cells in Egyptian Sinai and the Gaza Strip had finished preparations for launching a multiple terror attack on targets in the southern Israeli Negev and Eilat. Two Iron Dome missile interceptors were deployed near Eilat against attacks from Sinai and Ashkelon further north in case Salafist Bedouin associated with al Qaeda started firing rockets.

Looks like we are about to head out pretty soon. Israel will respond and it looks like Egypt is in serious trouble.

I believe that last verse is given to the Body to picture the sudden unveiling of the evil behind the wickedness at the time of our rescue. The enemy's advance will only go so far against His own, but will suddenly be stayed and exposed.

2 Tim 3 is the last epistle Paul wrote. It is his final word to us.
