Hello Susan,

you might have to be on medication for a while if things are getting bad. If you go to a doctor and start taking them, it will best to take them for the shortest period possible because it will be very difficult to get off them

If I feel a panic attack coming, I immediatley stop what I am doing or thinking that is making it come and distract myself. there are a few things you can do depending on what helps you. you can try taking deep slow breaths, listen to some relaxing music, or read the Bible.

one of the things that is really good if you feel too much anxiety or you feel a panic attack coming is to go out for a walk and walk as fast as you could.

everyday I watch a very funny movie, there is nothing like laughter to ease stress and anxiety and keep you healthy. I dont have the time to watch a movie every day but I put it on and mostly listen to while I am cleaning up, using the internet........ you can still hear what the people are saying in the movie and laugh. I got some of the older comedies that are funnier and more decent than todays stuff. these are some of the things I have, Home alone, Ms Doubtfire, Airplane.... also Beverly Hillbillies and threes company.

Susan.... I tried to reach you through another posting which was unfortunately removed before you could see it I guess.  I wanted to reach out to you because your story is so similar to mine and I hope that I can help you and I know there is lots to be learned from you also....

I used to suffer from debilatating panic attacks when I was younger.  I couldn't even leave my home for a while.  I know too well all the symptoms you are experiencing.  I did not know the Lord back then so I didn't even have Him to comfort me.  I saw a doctor who bless his heart did not believe in medicating these types of problems so I had to go it alone but I was determined to do it.  It took many years but it worked and I have been free from panic attacks for years although some things are still difficult for me to get through and I always feel one small event could set me off again.  I bought a book about panic attacks (agoraphobia is what I had which is fear of open spaces).  Knowledge is power so I immersed myself in understanding.  At that time there was no internet or I would have been on there perusing and joining message boards for support etc.  I forced myself to face all the things that scared me which was pretty much everything.  I had trouble leaving my house so that was hard.  Eventually as I did the things I was afraid of they got easier but as I said it took years to be able to do them comfortably.  It was a huge relief when I finally got past the fear.  I did not know about this then but deep breathing really helps.  There are some really effective deep breathing exercises that help to relax.  When you are in a panic attack you are hyperventilating which is quick shallow breathing.  When you concentrate on your breathing and take deep full diaphramatic breaths it helps this condition and makes the sensation of not being able to breathe go away.  Look for breathing exercises on the internet and try them to see if they help. 

You have people here on the boards for support and encouragement which is more than I had in my life back then... no internet, no support groups,  little support from family and friends who didn't understand what my problem was so didn't know how to help.  It was a huge feat to recover but one I am proud of.

Please hear what I have to say because I have "been there."

See an MD, primary care or psychiatrist that can give you the appropriate meds, like Lorazepam or similar, along with something like Trazadone for sleep.  Simplify your life as much as you can.  Talk with a trusted friend or clergy or Christian counselor.  And, Prayer on your own and intercessory, as well as being in the Word. 

These measures are needed for you now to stop the assaults and prevent you from spiraling deeper into other problems.  Remember, it is only for a "season."

Susan, we have all suffered. My inner child and myself, we are pretty tight. I address that little girl directly, sometimes she can hear me, sometimes not. There is a bigger part of you that can do this so drag the rest of yourself along (kicking and screaming if need be). Strength is yours! God bless you.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I lift up Susan to you and specifically her panic attacks.  I plead the blood of Jesus over Susan and that your Holy Spirit will draw Susan near and comfort and teach her your ways for overcoming the enemy's attacks.  Teach Susan dear Lord to immediately proclaim your Word over such attacks for these are from that old sneaky evil one who would have us to believe that the answer lies out there somewhere, with a doctor or with a book.  It is you who are God over all of our weaknesses, it is You dear Lord who are strong when we are weak. 

You are the God of our peace, Jesus/Yeshuah, you were chastised for it, we only need to exercise the same faith we have in Your Salvation to obtain the peace that you suffered and paid for us to have.  Isaiah 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  Open the eyes of the understanding of Your children to be able to grab onto that peace and proclaim it when that wily devil tries to steal it from us.  We give no place to the enemy and no weapon formed against us shall prosper according the Holy Word.  Lord God, help us to reach out to you and realize that where we are, you put us and that you gave us everything we need through you, to accomplish that which you have set before us. 

You have blessed Susan with this job and we pray that your reassurance will surround her, letting her know that she is supplied with every good thing, so that she will stand tall through Your provision for her.  And when the time comes and she sets her/your hand to the plow, she will be blessed because you are the one who provides for her good works.  The job will go well, it is the job You meant for her to have, so you will bless her in it.  You will give her Your wisdom and abilities to accomplish it, she need not worry ahead of time, worry only for today and teach her that even today’s troubles are easy for You.  God, Father show her that you have it all wrapped up, totally provided for, so she can be at peace in these days and hours beforehand to enjoy them and use the time for herself and for praising Your greatness and drawing nearer to You.

We come against you satan and curse your plans to come against God’s blessings in the name of  our Saviour Jesus/Yeshuah.  We bind you and break the assignment that you have over Susan, we command you and your helpers to retreat to the place that Jesus would send you.  We no longer give place to you and your panic attacks satan, but only lean on Christ our glorious Lord’s strength to bring us through. Psalms 46:1b: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Lord we plead the blood of Jesus over Susan and pray that Your hedge of protection will surround her continuously and that Your angels will attend to Susan, keeping the enemy at bay until she is strong in her faith to say “NO, I will give you no place!!!  My heart, my body, my spirit, even my soul and the thoughts of my mind are Jesus’ and He will always be my Lord and my God, so SCRAM satan in Jesus name, I am HIS! 

Dear Lord, you created us in a wonderful way and we believe that you can heal us, you ARE the Great Physician!  Lord, please heal any chemical imbalances or immune system weakness in Susan and give her the perfect health which you took stripes for.  Heal her mentally dearest God and take away the triggers of her panic  attacks and render them useless.  So cast them into the sea of forgetfulness and replace them with Your grace and power and love.   Help us to lean always on You and remember your help in time of need.  We love you and need you so much, please show Susan your arm of help, that it is not too short to help her in these and every problem.  We love you and thank you, help us to grow in Your assurance and blessings and to be strong in your strength and not our own.  It is in Jesus/Yeshuah’s mighty name that we pray and believe that You are more than able to take Susan and bless her in whatever you ask of her.

Give Susan favor with her boss and coworkers, give her Your mind and Your wisdom, so that by Your grace she will succeed in this job and that You will provide her with joy throughout her day, knowing that You are right there with her, helping her, guiding her reassuring her.  Give her good recall as she is being trained and bless that training so that it will be complete, make her fearless in asking You for help in that second, when she needs it most, but also fearless in asking her boss or coworkers for additional help in understanding or instruction.  You are such a wonderful and loving Lord for us your children and we thank you for Susan and for your help in her time of need, remove her fears and panic attacks by Your power and bring her your awesome peace every day.  Thank you dearest God for hearing and acting on our prayers to bless us, so that we may give thanks and bring praise and glory to You, Almighty God.  Amen and Amen.

Thank you all - a little better today but not out of the woods.

My Dr won't give me any other medication than valium which I take when necessary although I don't like taking it much - I tried anti depressants - the newer type - and they made me horribly ill.  I guess I am just going to have to try to face the fear as much as possible (gulp) and rely on prayer and the Lord to get me through.....

Feeling sad tonight - my young nephew and his girlfriend who had a little baby boy just six months ago and were planning on marrying at the end of the year have separated - I don't know the reason why but it has made me so sad - they seemed so happy together and the little fellow is gorgeous.  It breaks my heart to see a child grow up without their Father (my Husband left when our daughter was six and that was bad enough) - so I have been a bit teary.  I will pray for them that there can be a reconciliation.  So much going on in my family at the moment - none of it good.  Much prayer needed.
