Question on a verse in Rev 19

I believe in a pre-trib rapture - but today I noticed something I had not noticed before in Revelations 19 - well into the tribulation period.

It is: For the Wedding of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean was givben her to wear. Then the Angel said to me - Write - Blessed are those who are invited to the Wedding Supper of the Lamb. Rev 19:7-9

This has me very confused as I thought the Bride was not mentioned much after around the sixth seal.

Why would there be rejoicing in heaven at the marriage supper of the Lamb at that point in Revelations - this is after the seals have been opened and the bowls of wrath have been poured out on the earth.

It just has me thinking.....

Can anybody help with this?

my thought: perhaps they're just celebrating the marriage feast, up until the end of it, because it looks like this is right before Christ and the bride come back to Earth to clean house.

so since we're there for 7 years celebrating, i just take this as the end of that celebration.

does that make sense? =)

In a traditional Jewish wedding, the bride and groom are alone together for seven days; after this, they come out and join the rest of the guests.

Hi Susan! Yes, I agree with those here that we are going to have the Marriage Supper of the Lamb at the END of the tribulation, right before we mount up our horses for the Battle of Armaggedon.

Those who become believers during the tribulation who are not jews, will likely be marytered. They are also not part of the bride (the church). They have a different destiny than the church age believers...

Hi all - thanks for the responses but it is still not sitting quite "right" with me.

So basically - you're saying the Wedding supper of the Lamb continues for seven years - being the seven years of the tribulation? It just seems a very odd place much further along in Revelations to refer to it.

Jill - yes I know those mayrtyed during the tribulation are not a part of the Wedding supper - they are the ones under the altar waiting for their blood to be avenged - so I am not quite sure what pertinence this has to my question.

Still looking through the glass darkly here....

No, from scripture it looks like the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is going to be at the end of the 7 years instead of the beginning.

Okay that makes more sense - but if that is the case why would we be raptured beforehand - the main point of the rapture being to participate in the Wedding Supper with Jesus.....and at the end of the seven years we return with Him as part of His army of faithful warriors.....

Man - this verse has me tied up in knots!!!! Eeek. But something is prompting me to "suss it out more".

(Hi Lisa - dearest sis - I am doing okay - just okay, I am doing a program called Freedom from fear to help with the anxiety and panic....thus far it's sensitised me more than ever - but only because I have been facing what is wrong rather than running from it. It is a wonderful program and the gentleman who put it together suffered himself - many years ago - and recovered fully. He is a Christian also and there is a lovely track on faith, courage and bravery. There is also a forum to connect with so many others, all around the world, that suffer from this condition. The forum has been a Godsend to me as anybody who hasn't suffered with this just cannot understand it. I got so bad I got quite agoraphobic - but now I am able to get out again - small steps daily - thanks for your prayers - I know you have been thinking of me. I had to absent myself from here for a little time to soak up the program and all the info..... Love to you, Hugs, Susan xx)

Yes, I think of you quite often, wondering how you are doing. So glad that you are in a program that is helping you! Praise God. As hard as it is, it is always more benefical for our growth to face our fears. It is very hard, but in the long run it is the best thing to do.

To answer your question, we are raptured beforehand because we are not appointed to God's wrath during the tribulation. Like someone here said, God isn't going to beat up His bride before He marries her!! The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is a celebration of our marriage to Christ, (which belongs to the bride only), at the end of the 7 years of the tribulation. The old testament saints are the "friends of the bridegroom", and are invited to the Marriage Supper, but they are not a part of the bride.

Hey Susan, glad to see you're better sis! Amy did a wonderful job putting that together!

The seven days that the Jewish bride is enclosed in the Chupah with the groom is a shadow of the 7 years the bride (the Church) will be enclosed with Christ in Heaven while the tribulation takes place on Earth.

After the 7 days, the Jewish bride and groom come out of the Chupah to have the marriage supper with their guests. This is a shadow of the bride ( the Church) coming out of Heaven with our Groom, and then participating in the marriage supper of the Lamb at the end of the tribulation.

As I understand it, once the bride consents and drinks from the cup and the couple are betrothed, they are technically "married" at that point, but they are not to be together until after the bridegroom had prepared a place for his new bride.

So, you might be confused at when the "wedding" actually is -- technically, according to Jewish tradition, when you accept Christ, you are then betrothed to Him, thus already becoming His Bride -- wed, but not together. When He Raptures us, it's for the consummation stage of the union, and then at the end of the 7 year Trib, we emerge to feast with the "guests". That is NOT the marriage ceremony -- ONLY the feast.

Think of it like... the reception at modern day weddings. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is our reception with Him, with all the guests attending. We're already wed with Him. The only difference between this and a modern day wedding is the fact we'll have already been consummated.

The Betrothal with the Lord is part of the communion service..it is the drinking of the wine in agreement with God that you will be betrothed.

Baptism is the cleansing santification bath the bride takes after the betrothal.

And this just came to me after reading Amy's outline..the veil we wear is that of not totally understanding everything about our Lord now, but that veil will be lifted when we are raptured.

The wedding supper is at the end of the 7 days of consumation. the consumation of a marriage was supposed to result in a birth..I sometimes wonder what that birth will be 9 months later?

Jill, maybe the millenium is the gestational time and the new creation of a new world is born after! We'll have a "new born" earth for us to enjoy for all eternity after sin and death are destroyed.
