For those of you who know what is to love a pet almost like a child I am asking if you would pray for my brother and his wife; Jeremy and Debbie.  Last year around  Christmas time their Mastiff named Boomer was bitten by a poisonous spider.  He suffered terribly before he died.  My brother loved that dog so much.  They both did, but Jeremy and Boomer had something special.  Not long before Boomer died they had gotten another Mastiff puppy named Gatsby.  At first my brother was reluctant to get attached to the new puppy because he could never replace his buddy.  Gatsby however turned out to be too hard to resist.  He became their baby.  This past Saturday they were up in the mountains taking engagement pictures for a friend.  Jeremy wanted to take Gatsby off the leash to let him play in the snow, but Debbie didn't want him to.  He did it anyway.  To make a long story short, Gatsby got hit by a truck coming around the corner of a mountain road.  He didn't die instantly, but died in Debbie's arms on the way down to the vet.  He wasn't even two years old.  They are taking this so hard, just devestated.  We all are.  It is too awful that they lost two beloved dogs so close together and so tragically.  Two sweeter "boys" would be hard to find.   My brother blames himself for taking Gatsby off the leash. They are both super Christian people, but I think Jeremy is feeling bitter that God would allow this tragedy to touch them twice.   Debbie said in a facebook post that she couldn't imagine having to say goodby so soon, and couldn't imagine their life without their baby.  Her only comfort was that his big brother Boomer was looking out for him now.  Jeremy is not so sure he will see them again.  I believe we will see them again in heaven, but I know not everybody does.  That is another topic.   I hope this doesn't seem silly to ask for prayer over the loss of a dog, but I'm sure some of you who love your pets understand.  Please pray for God's peace and comfort for them.  thank you!

How sad for Gatsby to die so soon. I personally believe all pets/animals go to heaven also. I pray that he looks to the Lord to help him get through his grief. I think a member here recently had a dream that he was in heaven with his dog flying( I think Southpaw :P)? Maybe if you show him that, it might help. I really feel for him :/. I remember when I was a little kid, I had guinea pigs. When the first one died in my arms, I was devastated ( I was 7 ). I couldn't imagine having a sweet dog die :'(.

Dear Lord, we lift up to you Jeremy and Debbie. May you comfort them in their grief and sadness. May they look upon the lord for help. Jesus please, please, please heal them in every way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
 

Jesus said behold, I make all things new.

I believe that our animals will also be remade, new again and that our joy will be all the greater because of it. If God can make us new and the world new surely he meant our pets when he said ALL THINGS NEW.

I pray that they will be able to look forward to this. I am looking forward to being with my pets in heaven. I also have a dog that I adore, among my other animals.

May God comfort them with his promise to make all things new. Peace!

Dear Father, I pray that You comfort the grief that Jeremy, Debbie, and Brenda feel for their beloved Gatsby.  Lord, I know that You feel their pain, also, because You have compassion for Your hurting children.  I ask that You let them feel Your lovingkindness and comfort on their hearts, Lord. I ask that You take the guilt out of Jeremy's heart for letting Gatsby off his leash, and take away any hurt or bitterness he may feel towards You, dear Lord. I ask that You surround them with Your love and peace, and remove the sadness from their hearts, dear Father. I ask all of this in Jesus precious Name.  Amen.
