I would really appreciate some input on this as, some are taught from this that we must go through the Tribulation. There is confusion in some churches over these passages. Not me personally but, I am trying to present a more acurate representation of this question from Matthew. I appreciate any feedback. I absolutely would never want to mis represent the bible and, I have stood firm on my beliefs.

Maria, since the scripture in Matthew references Daniel, you could give them the scripture in Daniel 9:27 along with the verses in Matthew 24 to show how they correlate.
He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him." Daniel 9:27
“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Matthew 24:15-16
Then you could show them the scripture in Isaiah 45 where Israel is called God's elect and compare it to Matthew 24:22.
For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel my elect, I have even called you by your name: I have named you, though you have not known me. Isaiah 45:4
If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. Matthew 24:22
Also, here's two teachings on this from Jack Kelley at gracethrufaith.com
An excerpt of one:
In addition, Daniel 9:27 warns that an Abomination That Causes Desolation will occur in the middle of the last seven years, or 3 1/2 years from the end. In Matt. 24:21 Jesus identified this event as the official beginning of the Great Tribulation. Paul confirms this and adds detail by describing the anti-Christ standing in the Temple proclaiming himself to be God. (2 Thes. 2:4) This confirms the length of the Great Tribulation as being 3 1/2 years.

John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”Posted 1 year ago # -
