Firstly welcome Red Dove - you've been given wonderful advice and can check back here anytime with any questions.
As I was reading the thread though - I "saw" with my spiritual eyes - if it is this hard now to come to Christ - with only a Bible and limited knowledge - how much harder is it going to be after the Rapture during the tribulation. There will be no true Christians to answer the many questions. There may be no sites like this - electronic sites anything to do with Christianity may be barred.
Im picturing this lovely young Mum of 3 sitting at her table innocently reading the horoscopes - simply because she didn't know any better that we are not to do these things. Her support - the dreams of her small child, her Bible and this site. Oh man - that's gotta be tough!!
We may have all been Christian's here for many years - I don't know about that - but it set me to thinking if I was only just learning about Jesus now - at this late stage - how very hard it would all be to grasp. For instance - she states "I know I may have to die" - whereas if taken in the Rapture we don't taste physical death at all. SO much to learn and so little time. This is where I think it's so important to leave non electronic letters and books behind to help those during those years of tribulation. And also very important that somebody posted the simple prayer of salvation for her to say - because truly - if one will but believe and accept Jesus and say that salvation prayer out loud - then He will come. Clearly Jesus is speaking straight to her heart - He is so awesome!! I pray that the power of the Holy Spirit will open her eyes to new heights of understanding.
However, I felt very sad at the thought of how hard it will be during the tribulation. If we think Satan has a hold of the world now whilst He is still being restrained - then how much worse will it be during those times when he truly will be the prince of the world. It makes me shudder just to think about it.
As far as reading the Bible for new Christians I would suggest first the Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John then Acts - followed by Philippians, Romans, Hebrews, Thessalonians if at all possible. Revelation should probably only be read with a REALLY good referencing book by ones side as it is so very symbolic. Or being read spirit filled.
I don't normally turn my PC on at this time of the day but just felt a compulsion to do so. I reiterate that it just seems vitally important to leave a lot of literature (perhaps even hidden), Bibles and other Christian books like the Left Behind Series - for those who may seek in those days.
In the meantime - Nicole - I am so glad you have found us. We are Christian's that eagerly wait and watch for the Rapture of the Church - the day where Jesus will return and claim those who are true and faithful to him.. After that - the world will endure 7 years of utter tribulation, darkness and terror where Christianity will become a crime and the only way to accept Jesus will be by death. It is also of importance to know to NEVER take the mark - at this stage we believe it to be the RFID chip (implant) that is being talked about and is already in existence. The main thing to know is never let yourself take a mark on your forehead or your right hand - those who do so - will be lost for all eternity. Gulp - it seems, so little time - so much to know. But we have faith that Jesus - the King of King's and Lord of Lord's knows His own and will call them to Him - even if it is at the last moment. God bless you.
your sister in Christ, Susan in Aussie Land.
