First of all, I am new to RITA so I will introduce myself! My name is Haley and I am a college student from Tennessee. I love reading all of the wonderful stuff people post on here! Thanks guys!
I have been having a hard time falling and staying asleep the last few nights. Last night was extremely difficult. This may be normal for some of you out there, but not for me. I am a heavy sleeper and I fall asleep rather easily. Last night, however, I found myself wide-awake, even though I was extremely tired. So, I decided to read my Bible in hopes that would help me fall asleep – not that the Bible is boring and makes me fall asleep – reading in general does this to me. God knew what he was doing! He had something to tell me and he was not letting me go to sleep without hearing Him! I heard Him, LOUD and CLEAR!
God revealed to me the passage of Luke 21:25 and He showed me that this is what we are seeing right now as Hurricane Sandy hits the East Coast.
"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.” Luke 21:25 (NIV)
“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring” (KJV)
Now, you may think that this is a little vague and it could be referring to several things. Well, let me break this scripture down. First, it says that there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. I had a dream about a month ago that I was in the desert with a very dear friend and my boyfriend and I was watching a meteor shower. Unbeknownst to me we were 7 days from being able to view the Dracanoid Meteor Shower! The first of two substantial fall meteor displays in October. I had no clue about this shower! My friend who was in the dream with me sent me an email about it! So on October 8th I stood on my porch and saw these meteors with my boyfriend who happened to be home to visit! It gets better!!!!! I just now saw this as I was looking up the Dracanoid to make sure I spelled it right for this entry!! OH GOD IS GOOD!!!! Last Monday (October 22) I saw the meteors again, but because I am not educated on these things, I thought it was just the Dracanoid coming back out…….WRONG! I just now read about this, so my mind is a little blown away right now at how amazing our God is!
“The Draconid meteor shower is one of two big night sky meteor sights in October. There are several minor meteor showers throughout the month, but the Draconids and the annual Orionid meteor shower later in October are the main players to look out for. The Orionid meteor shower one of two showers created by the leftovers of the famed Halley's Comet (the Eta Aquarid meteor display in May is the other). It will peak on Oct. 22, according to the International Meteor Organization.” (Space.com)
I stood on the balcony taking pictures, calling everyone I knew acting like a crazy person last Monday! I was so excited to see these beautiful meteors in the dusk sky! A meteor shower in the sunset! It was beautiful! It looked like slow moving planes, but there were not planes! I will post a picture at the bottom of this blog! They are beautiful!
I was a little bit more excited than most of the people I told! As I was watching them I stood there and cried in amazement of how awesome our God is! Now that I know it was not even the Dracanoid again, it was from leftovers of Halley’s Comet – I am in even more awe of our AMAZING ALL KNOWING GOD!
I WAS NAMED AFTER HALLEY’S COMET IN 1987!!!!!!
Now back to Luke 21:25, “nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the seas”. I am going to list some of the affects Sandy has already had on the U.S. and other nations according to news.cincinnati.com:
· Phillips 66’s 238,000 barrel-per-day plant in Linden, N.J., the East Coast’s second-largest refinery, is shutting down. Three other plants cut output as Sandy approaches.
· All U.S. stock markets closed today and possibly Tuesday. This revising earlier plans that would have kept electronic trading going.
· Utilities from South Carolina to Maine reported late Sunday that 14,000 customers were already without power. More are sure to follow.
· Federal offices in the Washington, D.C., area will be closed today. Most non-emergency employees will be granted administrative leave for their scheduled working hours.
· Air France, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic grounded Monday's transatlantic flights to and from East Coast cities.
This brings me to the next scripture that God showed me.
Revelation 18:11 "The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes any more—
Revelation 18:12 cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble;
Revelation 18:13 cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and bodies and souls of men.
Revelation 18:14 "They will say, 'The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.'
Revelation 18:19 They will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourning cry out: "'Woe! Woe, O great city, where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin!
Think about New York and the trade that is carried out through the New York Harbor and all up and down the Eastern Seaboard! All who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth! Of course our trade with other countries have made them rich through our wealth! In one hour she has been brought to ruin! WOW!
