Hi everyone...quick post. Just went outside, and the moon is full, low..just above the trees...and red. It is so low...odd, usually higher this time of night. It looks like a blood moon. Anyone else see this? It is huge and blood red! God Bless, Jan

Wow! We had what appeared to be a blood moon here in Utah on Monday night. I saw it hovering over the mountains when I let my dog out around 10:00, and ran inside to grab a camera. In the pictures I took the moon appears to look more pink, but it was red! The ironic thing is yesterday afternoon (in the very place I spotted the red moon the night before) a wild fire broke out on top of the mountain. The smoke billowed like an erupting volcano. It looked like lava flowing down the mountainside. I have never seen anything like it in my life! 500 homes have been evacuated. The National Guard, with Black Hawk helicopters were called in to fight the fire. Several homes above us were lost. I just can't shake the feeling...was the blood moon a sign???

Hi everyone, WOW! Thank you for all your responses. I just went outside awhile ago, and now the moon is higher and lighter yellow with hazy cloud cover...but the lightening is in many areas of the sky...with no thunder. It could be heat lightening, but as my husband and I watched one area of the sky, there were huge bolts with light around them...I told my husband...maybe the rapture will happen tonight..but all I can say is the big red moon and lightening bolts got my attention. Just strange it looked like a blood moon. Keep watching watchers...I hope we are going up soon! God Bless, Jan

We live 12 miles from the coast, and we are a little socked in with fog. No moon yet.

Lots of lightning and abnormally long, rumbling thunder here in Ohio right now.
Also, my wife and I saw a HUGE, blood red moon while driving home around 3am Friday night.

I read today that the smoke particles from the Colorado fires reached the eastern seaboard today. Smoke or pollution in the air tends to make for spectacular sunsets / sunrises and would tend to color the moon red / orange when it is near the horizon and the light travels sideways through the atmosphere. Which doesn't address any significance, just the mechanics.

Huge reddish orange moon in Oregon last night too. We all went outside to watch the fireworks, and it was just over the horizon, and my daughter says, "Mama, look at the sun!" And I'm thinking the sun set like 45 minutes ago.
So I go over to look because it was behind a house and WOW it was amazing. It really DID look like a setting sun, except without the brilliance.
It rose higher and higher, and at one point, had a gradient effect across the face, where the bottom was yellow, the middle was orange, and the top was red. I could totally understand if the fire particles was in the air coloring it in this way.
It rose really high and then returned to it's normal size and color. But it was stunning on the horizon. I've never seen the moon that big. The kids were oohing and aahing over it. In fact, it was so bright and orange, that my daughter kept thinking it was a firework because her eyes kept being drawn to it.
I tried to take a picture of it, but my phone has no capacity to take a good, zoomed in night shot.
