I've always been curious about this factor God made the earth and the moon & Sun but why other far off planets we can't admire in the sky cause it's so far away from our viewing pleasure????I even came up with a few probable theories but i'm afraid to even utter them so i'm just curious on what you guys think they were made for?

God is just into creating its a big part of his nature.

I've always believed that we will be able to explore them during and/or after the Mill reighn of Yeshua. We may also be able to build colonies on remote planets in the future.

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.Posted 1 year ago # -
Our immediate planets, I believe, are for signs/seasons like Genesis mentions, but also to show off His handiwork and how awesome He is. Jupiter and Saturn are amazing planets and so beautiful. Venus is amazing as well.
Planets we discover circling other stars... Those, perhaps to explore as Jonathan says, but I also believe they're there to show us His majesty and drive home exactly how MUCH He is in control of.
You might ponder why are there other galaxies, even? Point your telescope to the sky in any random place and you'll find THOUSANDS of them. God could have easily made the "universe" just be the Milky Way and we'd still marvel. But He's placed bajillions of galaxies up there SPECIFICALLY to blow our minds and to show us just how Great He is.
I mean, if you think about it, God knows every drop of rain, every leaf that falls, and every speck of cosmic dust. The Bible says by Him all things were made and all things hold together. Therefore, everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) holds together because God wills it to be so. The VAST amount of things God is in charge of regularly blows my mind. From the grand scale of stars and planets, to the micro world of atomic particles.
When you take the time to really meditate on that for a few moments, to close your eyes and take in all that God holds in the palm of His hand, you really get to understand how Jesus was able to say nothing is impossible for God. He is Sovereign over EVERYTHING that happens in His creation. And this forces us to take God out of the little box we've put Him in and really stand in awe of His Glory.
Even if you didn't realize you'd "put" Him in a box.
I mean, imagine... our weighty problems are NOTHING to God! Of COURSE He can help you though your infirmity! Your poverty! Your stress or your depression!
I truly believe once we realize the enormity of God, His Glory, His responsibilities, and what He is capable of, that's when our faith becomes unshakeable and ROCK SOLID. All things are possible with God because He holds all things together by the power of His will alone.
That's an AMAZING truth once you grasp it, really. This computer, this house, this ground, my body, this planet -- all held together because God wills it to be so.
There are no words for the awe in my heart right now.

Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. ~~Psalm 73:25-26 (ESV)Posted 1 year ago # -
While i was in college, i had an envronmental studies, earth science class on a hill that overlooked the coastline and rest of the college below.--it is breathtaking and beautiful view. but quite a climb up a steep hill to get there.
One day while going to this class, (it is in a large classroom with huge windows facing the commanding view) just at the moment i was opening the door to the classroom. the Spirit came upon me suddenly ... Lord asked me a question.
What do you give a God that has everything?
my answer back to the lord.
your heart.
i was to say the least that day moved to tears, and had a hard time composing myself to attend the class, i think because of it, i left class early that day.
it is the only thing in the universe that does not belong to him, it the only thing we really have to give, the only thing he really wants from us.
He is indeed worthy of all praise adoration and worship

You know what Becka i never just appreciated that fact you are right he probably made them just to show off his amazing creations without limitations he's the artist of the artist's.I love how scientist can't explain how a new planet or solar system emerge out of no where haha our God created them cause he felt like it.

You are right about Gen 1:14. It spells it out. And an in-depth word study will show you that the word "seasons" implies "sacred times".
God uses His celestial creation to paint pictures that communicate important events. (The devil stole the idea and called it astrology). But God is the creator of these and has used them from the beginning of time as signs (signals).
Watch the Star of Bethlehem DVD for a perfect example of how He has used plantes to announce important events.

God told Abraham that his descendants would be as the stars in the heavens. There are a lot of stars out there. Eternity is a long time. Those people who repopulate the Millennium will have the advantage that the earth will be restored to pre-fall conditions. There will be no more war, greed, or injustice allowed. After the Millennium and the Great White Throne Judgment, there will be a substantial population. Between the Old Testament Saints, The New Testament Saints, The Tribulation Saints and the Millennium Saints. God is going to need somewhere to put them all.

I think he made them just to show off. =) Because he can and did!

I had a dream when I was in my early 20's that I will never forget it! I was traveling (flying) so fast it didn't seem possible! I just went faster and faster and faster and it seemed it would never end. What made is so special was the place I was traveling seemed like space and I saw thousands upon thousands of stars and planets and I just kept going it seemed like forever. I remember I wasn't scared and it was almost as if I was being shown just how big the universe really is. I've never dreamt anything like that since but it did cause me to think outside "the box" of this world. I will always remember how free and how hopeful I felt and then I woke up!
Sometimes I visit the hubble telescope website just to look at the photos because I really feel like I was shown something special in that dream.

One of my favorite quotes:
"We do not ask for what useful purpose the birds do sing, for song is their pleasure since they were created for singing. Similarly, we ought not to ask why the human mind troubles to fathom the secrets of the heavens. The diversity of the phenomena of nature is so great and the treasures hidden in the heavens so rich precisely in order that the human mind shall never be lacking in fresh nourishment." -Johannes Kepler
Exploring the glorious universe with beauitufl people, doing beautiful things, in beautiful environments. Not only so, but doing so with a new celestial body, free from imperfection and deadness, so that we will be truly full of sensitivity and therefore continual stimulation, enjoyment, and bliss. This is just the tip of the iceburg.
This is the "abundant life" Jesus died for that we may have; the life God originally intended his creatures to live.
"Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." -Galatians 1:10Posted 1 year ago # -
Curious do you think God might give us each our own solar system?? our own little piece of the universe?? There certainly are more than enough stars out there, 300 sextillion at last count, for us to each have one and each of our stars could have planets around it. It would be neat I think. Just having our own planet would be neat but a whole solar system that is ours would be really cool! With over 170 billion galaxies in the universe we could each have our own galaxy. Though with the human population continuing to grow through eternity maybe it would be easier to give us each our own solar system (star and any planets we would like) than to give each of us a galaxy.

Isaiah 66:1,2 talks of the realm God sits upon and those who shall inherit this incredibly vast universe or whatever tasks we shall enjoy doing as we enjoy an eternity w/ our Lord.
