no sound. Can you please just say if there's going to be one or not?
Thanks!

From one knucklehead to another
, thanks for the follow-up, Scottie! No eclipse. I'm relieved ~ one less thing to watch for during Hanukkah!

To Joyfulheart,
The video sound is working. There is no eclipse on 12/24. God bless.

Scottie, I hear you and appreciate your correction. But. According to the Naval Observatory the sun and moon will rise 1 minute apart over Mauna Loa Hawaii. The moon is new because the sun is lighting up the other side of it. It seems odd that there won't be at least a partial eclipse somewhere on the planet when that happens. The online programs did show partial eclipses at dawn. If we are still here (which I'm hoping we're not) then it's worth it to me to get up early and watch the dawn. Cheap enough cost to satisfy my curiousity.
Oh, and I loved Blood Moon Rising. Very well done.

sorry, my post wasn't very clear. Yes, your video has sound. But my computer doesn't. :D
Thanks for updating with the answer. :D

I agree with Thom. If the moon is in front of the sun (or even partially as Stellarium shows), then isn't there at least a partial eclipse? In spite of the "4x" or not "4x", the moon and sun appear the same size from earth's perspective, so if one is in front of the other, it is effectively cutting off the light, no? If you don't scale the moon, you get what looks like a pinprick sized dot. That is not the ratio of the moon to the sun.
I say partial eclipse. Lol... astronomer that I'm not...

Hey Scott! I think you did good looking out for us all. I hope you know it is not over lol (at least not on my end) I seem to be running into a lot of others on the net saying their programs and iphones are saying differently so something may be up. I’m confused my self and just like TXThom said we have the naval observatory telling us otherwise. Your accident may have been a blessing in disguise for us to be watching NASA... oh and looking up!
Whatever it is, we shall keep on watching!

There's a little voice in my head saying "who needs science, we have the internet." But it's a happy voice. For the cost of going outside when I first get up rather than sitting in front of Rita, I will suspend my disbelief. Years of training with Star Trek has given me that ability. Does anyone else remember the pilot for Star Trek when Spock controlled the speed of the Enterprise using punch cards and calculated arrival time with a slide rule? All while having a talking computer? Those were the good ol days.

Scottie. A word to the Wise
(that's you). Hold off on debunking your debunk until further researched. TXThom and Destiny have a pretty good analysis but ...

Then you'll have to retract your "Look at me! I make dumb mistakes too! Wheeeee!" statements, and resign yourself to the fact that you are not a knucklehead, as you claimed to be, and it just gets so complicated.

So wait! A bit. Please.

Ohhhhh Bethie....
You make-a me dizzy....

Oops, Destiny ~ didn't mean to ... saaaawwry

Thank you Beth24, Bethie and Destiny,
Maybe I'll end up correct by error... whatever that means. Then I can retract my self proclaimed knuckle-head statement ;)
Thank you for your support. I am curious as to what these other programs are finding. Who has the answers? Where do we look? Is there really a possible eclipse on 12/24? Anyone?
Blessings, Scottie

Two sites with online simulations:
http://www.solarsystemscope.com/
and a simplified one at http://www.sunmoonscope.com/
These are java programs, don't need installation, and are probably based on the same code so don't use one to confirm the other. I really think it best to do it old school - look outside on 12/24.
