On Last Days Christians Conditions, Jude, is prophetic in nature foreshaddowing the Church and Christians between the Epistles and Revelation 3. Sadly this is the condition of some believer's who believe they are true Christians. Many of us believed this would be the condition of end time people but never connected it to representative of Christian behavior. Eyes are opening to realize the truth of these statements. These aren't unbelievers mentioned in these texts. And worse yet, they are deceiving fellow believers who don't recognize these conditions for what they are. because they are subtle or deceitfully sneaked in under cover, or Christians just aren't looking for these things in the Brethern they fellowship with. This condition indicates "blindness" at work among us. How important discernment is. We must continually ask the Lord to provide it for us as we are more and more seeing encroaching darkness around us.
Why does Jude tell us to earnestly contend for the faith? In an article Blueteapot posted awhile back by Alfred Hahn on "Jude-Conditions Revealed For Last Days Christians", which I hope she will include on this thread for you to see also, Hahn said, certain men have crept in unawares, ungodly men ...denying our Lord Jesus Christ. Now at first glance we think that means standing up and denying Him as well as refusing to submit to His authority and doing as they please. We have all kinds of ways of denying Jesus. Jude mostly points to teachers. leaders of all kinds in the community of faith. Teachers/leaders should lead by example in their own lives as well as expecting it of others.. False teachers are false people. It's that simple. The " sneaky and devious--not entering the sheep pen by the front gate." Jesus warned, "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the front gate, but climbs in by some other way is a thief and a robber." John 10:1 Because of their slipperiness and subtle ways of encroaching on the Church, Jude lays out 18 diagnostic characteristics by which to recognize them lest the Christian be caught unawares.
I'm not going to list them all here . You can find them in Blueteapot's post later but I will chose some that I have noticed in the past. There are those who refuse to accept responsibility for their own behavior and try to blame anyone else for their problems and their own actions that they can blame including innocents. Especially they want to attack those who catch them and point out the error of their ways. You know the kind, for they appear blind to their own actions and continually blame everyone else for their own actions. It's anybody and everybody else's fault that got he/she caught being improper and have to pay a price. The badmouthing and criticizing announced to the world of how badly they've been treated while never admiting the truth that they were misbehaving; acting inappropriately. They don't want to follow rules but instead do things their own way which really means rebellion against God with a capital "R". They become slaves to their own ideology and want to recruit others on their bandwagon about how unfair someone else is and criticize that person to death with vengence in their hearts. This is not how our Lord operates and should be noticed when it occurs. It's because these individuals have never fully submitted to Jesus's authority in their lives. They are determined to do as they please with no regard of anyone else because nobody other than himself and his agenda has any importance to him. It amounts to self-centeredness and selfish motives. And the problem worsens when other Christians follow these types who are really false prophets misleading people as to who they really are. We see such stealth occuring within any Christian gatherings today in greater and greater numbers.
Woe to these false ones for they have taken the way of Cain. What is the" way of Cain"? IT IS WHERE MAN DOES RIGHT IN HIS OWN EYES AND PROCEDES FROM THERE. They go out of their way to create power struggles with a complete lack of regard for spiritual authority . It's rebellion and they slander those who OBJECT or seen as "IN THEIR WAY". They judge everyone but themselves and attack any leader who confronts them with the error of their ways. This means those who God has called to serve Him and whom have His authority in directing and leading , governing as called servants of the Lord by standards of Scripture; those in whom He has gifted , and called to order, discipline, and worship within an assembly. They must meet Scriptural standards to qualify. There is no respect for the order God has provided nor those He has called to serve Him. This amounts to rebellion against God Himself but they can't see that.
Some examples follow below:
Follow their own desires.
Boast about themselves.
Flatter others for their own advantage.
They divide you and cause strife among you.
These are just a few traits listed here.
We see this spirit trying to infiltrate everywhere the church gathers, trying to pass themselves off as authorized when they aren't. Forcing themselves and their own agendas deceitfully. They worm their way in illegally not using the front door, forcing themselves on you to try to create trouble in some way. Beware of these types. This could be at your home or in your life as well. Those refusing to recognize authority are unprincipled beings. They cross boundaries with a complete lack of regard or respect for you. Nothing else matters but their selfish, self-serving world. No code of conduct , morals or ethics befitting a Christian. Not them. They do expect you to follow their directions on their home turf, however. But think nothing of crashing others. Rules are for everybody else; not them.
This is not Godly character nor is it Godly order. When Jesus sets up His Kingdom on earth, we are told He will rule with a rod of iron. That indicates with power, authority and firmly with no leeway--His order--His way. We need to submit now because there will be no entering through back channels inappropriately and use of deceit to accomplish one's own agenda then! Rulebreakers wont be there or learning to submit the hard way. Rebellious spirits need not apply so to speak. God has had order and rules all along. Everywhere we go there are rules. This is not something new. It's clearly folly that will sting later if not learned now.
Sadly the real goal is to deter you from God's blueprint for your life. They want to insert themselves into that plan by getting you to follow them instead or allowing such a distraction as to prevent you from having a chance to enter into that blueprint; or even to have a chance of recognizing it before they distract you from finding it. You aren't important --it's all about them. If the Holy Spirit is leading you, don't allow anyone to distract you from that purpose. Whether it's distraction, tempting, luring, encouraging you to do what they are--however it comes, don't follow. Always pray first about any move you are making . You need Holy Spirit leading only. In today's atmosphere this is more vital than ever--to be sure you are on the path He intends you to be on.
Pray to be especially led when around anyone forcing himself on you with an agenda or an ulterior motive . They may appear as light but not be. Guard and protect all leadings of the Holy Spirit. When anyone creates their own rules that's a form of lieing, stealing and a degree of some kind of killing/destruction going on. Be very aware of such tactics. If you see the creation of strife or division going on--stay out of it or stand your ground contending for your faith, but don't join in with such a spirit. Those who feel it's okay to create chaos and confusion are not of the Lord. This is not the way the Lord operates. They aren't coming in the name of the Lord if doing this. That's rebellion working. A good example is the rioting that took lives through violence in Middle East lately.
Character is important to God. We are to be developing a Godly character growing more and more like Him. Any spirit not acting in such a manner is not of God. They come in many shades. Recognize them for what they are.
When Satan influences, his ways are unethical, unprincipled, deceitful, can be a religious spirit at work. He is cunning, shrewd, devious, a schemer, a bully, a challenger, an adversary, fear-mongerer, a rule breaker, an authoritarian. He refuses to recognize Godly authority because he's a rebel. He goes where he isn't invited. He crosses barriers and boundaries, enters without permission. Enters unconventually--may even resort to ramming down doors. He doesn't take no for an answer, but threatens, bluffs or challenges.
Proud, arrogant, thinks he alone has the answers and knows all. No one can tell him differently. He refuses to listen, is rude, blusters, slanders, & blames others for his problems. He doesn't take constructive criticism or advice but contiues on in his own way, holds grudges in bitterness refusing to let go and move on, and wants vengence. He can be overly aggressive or crafty cleverly covering up truth. He's cruel, insulting, a destroyer who intends harm. He's resentful, lies smoothly (well practiced), plays games with other's lives, a user. He thrives in negativity toward others, and stirs up discontent, Criticizes, hides behind others, mocks, insults, causes chaos and confusion, contention. There's deep waters under the surface. He falsely reports to cover up his own inadequacies always pointing away from himself. He plays deadly games with a dangerous mindset that can easily explode if he doesn't get his own way. Should you encounter any of these behaviors-flee.
2 Timothy 3 But mark this (understand): There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient, (especially to parents), ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving , slanderous, without self control, brutal, not lovers of good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.5. having a form of godliness but denying it's power. HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM.
They are the kind to worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires. 7. Always learning but never able to acknowlege truth. 8. Just as Jarnes and Jambres opposed Moses, so are these men who oppose truth--men of depraved minds who as far as the faith is concerned , are rejected. 9. But they will not get very far, as in the case of these men , their folly will be clear to everyone."
God is shining light by revealing things that have been hidden. More and more we see this revelation in a variety of areas. He wants us to know truth and that none be deceived these last days. We are told to be alert and vigilant, covering ourselves in the Blood of jesus, prayed up, dressed up (our armor), and looking up. We're to be focused on prasing God, worshipping Him, trusting Our Good Shepherd who is our every breath and has good plans for us as we anticipate our redemption is drawing near. We are to focus on Him and Him alone. We are to contend for our faith as we focus on Him. With awareness of what to avoid, we can do just that. Do not fear--just be aware so that you can easily see and discern what someone else is doing these things , to avoid falling ourselves. We are in His keeping but those with such a spirit that they might not discern need to check themselves. Maybe there's someone in your life needing help to overcome such tendancies. Your awareness may make a difference for them while protecting yourself.
May the Lord bless and keep you in the palm of His hand in the days ahead. Blessings to you and yours today and every day.
