Great White Throne

 "And I saw a Great White Throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." (Revelation 20:11-14)

"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:5-8)

We are told of this burning thirst, which can not be quenched, in the story of the beggar Lazarus, and the rich man. "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."

Who will stand before THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT? The answer is dead people. Verse 12 reads, "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God." These are people who are "dead" in two ways. They are dead physically. The resurrection of the wicked dead will be a literal bodily resurrection, which necessitates the spirit and soul returning to the body. In verse 13 it is clear that bodies are brought forth from every depository that holds their dust. No matter what happens to your body, whether it be burned by fire, buried at sea, or blown to bits by a bomb, God will gather your body once again to stand before His presence.

These people are also dead spiritually! These are those who by their own choice are dead to God, "dead in trespasses and sins. THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGEMENT is for the unsaved, the lost, those who have refused the sacrifice of Jesus Christ by which God is able to forgive sin! This passage tells us that there will be present both "small and great." Big sinners, little sinners, rich, poor, employers, employees, educated, uneducated, famous, unknown, all types of people of all ages, in all walks of life, will stand before Christ unprepared. No one is excluded from this judgement unless they are saved!

This Court or throne has full power and authority to destroy both the body and soul in Hell for eternity! Jesus warned in Matthew 10:28 "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell." ... There is no exemption for those who reject the Son of God. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.".... Those who have rejected the love of God through the person of Jesus Christ will be cast into everlasting fire with Satan and His imps of Hell! ... Also read Proverbs 1:24-29 "Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:"

The Devil and his angels will also be judged at this time which Jude calls the Judgement of the 'Great Day'. (Jude 6) When this judgement is over the Devil and his angels and all the ungodly, will have been consigned to the Lake of Fire..... This will take place at the close of the Millennial reign of Jesus the Messiah, The timing of this judgement in Heaven appears to coincide with the renovation of the earth, in 2 Peter 3:7." But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgement and perdition of ungodly men."
