The subject recently came up regarding how to know if a spirit is from God vs deception of satan and his hordes. I had commented to ask the spirit if he could declare that Jesus was the Son of God. While an appropriate question there is Scriptural reference to which we should adhere along with praying for Holy Spirit discernment and wisdom. Faith Won located these Scriptures when I was trying to remember where they were at. Due to their importance I will post this under Basic Instruction and Teaching as a sticky so all can easily find this reference to remind themselves of their importance in the time in which we are living. This is called, "testing the spirits". You may wish to tuck this piece of wisdom in your memory bank for immediate usage if or when such a time comes where it is needed.
This is how you recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of antichrist which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
So the appropriate question to ask then is : "Do you confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh?"
Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking in the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed", and no one can say , "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit.
