Grant jeffery and other say that friday was the day of christ crucifixion because they counted inclusivly of time back then thus a few hours friday and a few hours sunday plus all sat= 3 days and nights in the belly of the earth. I disagree but lets take this inclusive thing to other time frames shall we.

1260 days the witness preach could then be 1258 day whole and then a few mintues in the day before and a few minutes in the day after to fulfill prophecy. 42 months of the AC reign could be a few days one month then 40 whole months then a few days thee next month and thus fulfilling prophecy. the 70th week of daniel could be a few days to a month in one year 5 whole years and a few days to a month in the following year to fulfill prophecy. the 5th trumpet the scorpions torment 5 months could be fulfilled by one day in one month 3 whole months and a day the following month. the witness' lay dead 3.5 days could be a hour in one day 2 whole days and half a day the following day.

I dont think anyone would say the following paragraph is right but it is the logical extention to the inclusive counting used to try and prove a friday death and sunday resurrection. I think he was killed on wed buryed after sunset making it thursday when place in the earth.

so night 1 is thursday day 1 is thursday night 2 is friday day 2 is friday night 3 is saturday day 3 is saturday. thus, strictly appling this, he would have risen after sunset on sat thus rising on sunday.

Now a possiblity I lean towards is since he died before sunset wed that he would rise before sunset on sat having the hours from wed count towards the total. if he raises on sat he is raised after 3 days and 3 nights and is raised after the 3rd day portion (after 3 days) is completed, and on the 3rd day of the feast of unleaven bread (on the third day). since nisan 14 is the prep day for the meal and then the 7 day feast it would need to be one a wed. it was in 30 AD.

when the went to the tomb he was already risen. now yes there was a earthquake right before sunrise but we are not told that is when he rose. the earth quake coudl have been what opend the tomb. he might have been waiting in the tomb since rising and when the rock was moved he then left the tomb and went to work there tending to the grounds waiting for the mary's to arrive. since he had not yet ascended to the father yet perhaps he was unable to simply walk through the walls of the tomb.

Paul, I agree with your assessment of this time reckoning not G Jeffreys, he is usually a good teacher but the "good friday" tradition is one of these things that causes the mainstream church to loses credibility in the eyes of a truth seeker.

I am a Jewish believer, and you have to understand how the Jews count the days of the week.  Friday started on Thursday at sundown, so Thursday at Sundown is Friday night, Friday before sundown He was laid in the tomb.  Friday at sundown the Shabat starts until sundown Saturday night, Saturday night at sundown Sunday starts until Sunday at sundown when Monday starts.  So you do have your 3 days, being Friday before sundown one day - buried, Friday sundown - Saturday sundown day 2, Saturday sundown to Sunday morning - 3rd day.  So, He was in the tomb 3 days, it does not say that he would be there for 24 hours per day, it just said 3 counts of 3 days.

When you read your Bible you can't think of what they wrote or said in connection with Western culture.

You will find that they will not describe the feasts by name, but by saying something that they did during that feast.  If you were telling someone about Thanksgiving or X-Mas you would not have to say the name of the feasts, but you could say something like, we had turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc.  Anyone in this culture could tell you that you had a Thanksgiving dinner.

Didn't Jesus also say:  Destroy this Temple and in 3 days I will built it again?

Could it be that Matthews misquoted Jesus like the ones that came before the Sanhedrin to testify against Him?

As we see in scripture Jesus Himself said that He would rise in 3 days not 3 days and three nights.

I did not say that the Bible has errors, but the New Testament is written from the memory of people that were alive after many years after the happenings.

In the Tannakh it says that Sarah was the sister of Abraham, same father different mother.  I do not find this passage in the Christian Translation.  Why?  Maybe because they did not want to show incest.

I have translated documents and papers from one language to another, and when the translation is made you can't translate word for word.  You have to give the meaning of the sentence to the reader in their language.  Some words have to be changed, phrases are changed to bring the meaning of that phrase in another language.

One day we will before Hashem and we can ask Him to explain Jonah's 3 days 3 nights with what Yeshua/Jesus said.

anidjart, I agree that there are many difficult sayings that can sometimes appear to contradict and only God will settle it someday. I will not be contentious or split hairs because Satan uses such to divide us, shalom& love to you also.

There are many translation of the the old and new testament. I would think that a messianic Jew would have an advantage in understanding the Jewish customs, holidays, etc. if  he/she practiced the holidays, customs and spoke and understood the language as their ancestors.  If this be the case for you anidjart what bible do you read? Do the messianic Jews have their own translation of the bibles and if so what are they. I would love to study what the messianic Jews study! Oh and it doesn't say what time of day that Jonah got swallowed so that doesn't help in defining what type time is being used "sigh". These things we ponder on but at the end of the day they are not important enough to call division or lack of faith. so according to jewish reckoning would a king who riegns from adar 1 5699 (nisan being the begining of the year here) til nisan 30 5709 be said to have reigned 7 years or 9 years? also does 42 months of the AC's reign have to be 42 full months or can it be 40 full months and a partial month in front of and behind the 40? finally does daniels 70th week have to be 7 full years or 5 full years and part of a year before and part of a year after making it be at least part of 7 different years?

the catholic church chose dates in order to 'christianize' pagan festivales to help "convert" the pagans. so we know many dates that are on the christian calendar are not really the dates the events happened but are the dates chosen for their celbration by a apostate church.

As for as the temple and 3 days they could refer to 3 - 24 hour periods. God would have known that most of the people reading the bible would not think of days in the partial day = a day so I would think he would have taken that into account when having the Gospels written. he after all is their author. he said after 3 days, on the 3rd day and after 3 days and nights. my explaination above would account for all 3.

I have a interlinear bible and the KJV seem to be spot on in translation. I disagree with you about literal translation. I agree sometimes you have to find a close translation but given the interlinear bible it seems that literal can be done for many things. even when it cant you usually can find very close translations without having to translate a whole sentence at once. you can find close enough words to go word for word or two for one or one for two. if you are in the legal world I suspose you have to do all sorts of translating tricks to protect clients but for something like the bible you can go word for word and keep the meaning. the translators aren't going to get sued by God.
