Our Lord warned "For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect" as it is written in Mark 13:22.  We have to take this Word very seriously, and be extremely careful, since the warning is for this end time.  Here are 10 tips.

1) Faith is believing the Word of God which is not seen.  If a believer is too fascinated with seeing the accurate results of predictions, there is a danger to fall into a trap of flesh by following predictions than the Word.

 

Remember the phenomenon that the whole world was fascinated with the Octopus during the World Cup last year?  It was the seduction of flesh.

 

"Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe." (John 4:48)

 

2) For this reason, God never elects a prophet of psychic type.

 

3) Jesus said "The Law and the prophets were until John (the Baptist)" in Luke 16:16.  Since our Lord fulfilled the Law, brought the Gospel of the New Testament and the Holy Spirit came, there is no need of a prophet of the Old Testament type anymore.  If anyone claims to be a prophet of the Old Testament type, he or she is a false prophet.

 

4) If a prophet exaggerates, propagates, or brags the accurate results of his or her predictions, it's a red flag.

 

5) Usually a false prophet doesn't know they are being used by the evil.  When Saul persecuted Christians of the early Church, he believed he was serving God.  Therefore, even a false prophet could be very sincere and holy.  But, remember a saying "Do not judge a book by it's cover."

 

6) The Scripture warns that a false prophet disguises as an angel of light or the minister of righteousness.  It means that most of a false prophet's teaching could be truth, but some are false.  Therefore, if a false doctrine is taught, it's wise to reject the prophet and the teaching altogether rather than to accept the teaching selectively.  If one accepts a false prophet, then becomes under the influence of false spirit.  It's the spiritual principle.

 

7) If a prophet creates a fear by accusing or emphasizing the excessive holiness, it's a red flag.  The spirit of fear is not from God.

 

8) Usually a false prophet makes a mistake some point by claiming a superstitious revelation.  Be watchful for this sign.

 

9) Even though a prophet shows signs and wonders, do not follow blindly.  The Scripture warns about it and commands us to test the spirit.  Therefore, it's a responsibility of each believer to keep this command.

 

10) It is written in Revelation 12:4 "and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born."  It means the deceiving is literally happening now around us at this end time, and the evil has been preparing for this moment for many years.  The Lord is grieving for many Brides are devoured by the evil.

Let's see, we have pastors, teachers, evangelists - do we have any apostles and prophets? 

Or, are all apostles today self- appointed and all prophets false?

Would it be OK to have some names of real prophets today? 

Surely we would not list the false ones- that would not be appropiate.

Several prophetic words including "Last Days' Assignments Against The Elect" (http://www.unknownprophet.com) reveal that the Lord is very concerned for many elects are deceived by the end time seducing spirit.  It made me sad and motivated me to write the article.

Here is a quote from a prophetic word that Charity received on Jan.8,2011.

"Watch out, My children!  Things are not as they seem.  Stay in My Word and be alert by My Spirit so that you do not fall into the trap of deception, which is at hand.  Do not become cocky or proud, thinking you are above deception, for those who think this way will be among the first to fall prey to the enemy's schemes.  Remember, Satan has had thoudands of years to be planning for these short few years of freedom upon earth.  He is going to pull out all stops in order to derail My children."

 I guess the Octopus Paul has been manipulated 'electronically' by WorldCup Organisation in order to allow gamblers to bet wrongly...although the winner was 'definitely' the 1 'predicted' by the Octopus.

The way is quite simple...when the WorldCupOrganiser which has all the means to collect and know all the 'gamblers' bet...they could choose the other team so that they will definitely earn/gain profit.

So they would broadcast the Octopus worldwide, then showed it going into 1 of the 2 teams.

Maybe they have already manipulated Octopus into their desired team or they could use something else like food placed in the desired location.

When the result came out for the WorldCup...it was a DRAW...then after extra-time...1 of the desired team won the WorldCup...and WholeWorld was surprised by Octopus Paul.

So the Organiser EARNED the Most because many who either bet on the 2 teams...DEFINITELY LOST.

 Whoever truly believes in the Lord shall be saved and this includes Rapture, my brother. Although not all true believers are aware of the Rapture...ALL will be saved.

Those left behind are really those whom Jesus NEVER Knew, although many thought that they are already saved.

This is why I believe RITA is so precious to defend the Pre-Trib.Rapture.

I know many believers don't like or agree with this view, but it's alright. I don't push my belief to anyone, just express what I believe.

Elliot, this statement is not only against RITA's statement of faith but is unscriptural.  Salvation from the penalty of sin is a covenant between God and all who will believe.  Those believers are called The Church or The Body of Christ or The Bride.  They are one in the same and ALL that have been born again are going in the rapture because they belong to Jesus Christ.  He bought and paid for them and will loose none.

You say that God will not violate mans free will and belief.  That is right.  "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved."  Salvation belongs to Jesus Christ alone.  He is the only one able or worthy to own it and give it away.  And He is not an "indian giver".  When someone is "Born Again" into the family of God, they are never aborted out of that family.  Keeping His salvation does not depend on us keeping a set of rules of do's and don'ts or having all the "right" beliefs is not a condition for assured salvation.  It depends ONLY on the One who wrote and signed the covenant in His own blood.  And, He has clearly said that he would not lose a single one.

So, that facts are that not a single BornAgain believer in Jesus Christ for the payment of all their sins is going to be left behind.  Loss of rewards for not watching? Yes.  Loss of rewards for not always doing what is right? Yes.  But never loss of promises.   And He promised to NEVER leave us or forsake us.  End of story.

I agree with where Watching and Elliot is coming from with their posts on this subject. I might add that the flip side of item 7) ( If a prophet creates a fear by accusing or emphasizing the excessive holiness, its a red flag. The emphasizing of excessive comfort & security without any need of accountability to God and the need of conviction of sin, righteousness & judgment in one's life from the Holy Spirit is just as false & deceiving, if not, worse, because it destroys through a false sense of eternal security & comfort without any need of the Holy Spirit's dealings and convictions in one's life to cause them to walk victorious over their sins and weaknesses ( known and unknown by themselves but totally known by the Holy Spirit )and to be real examples of Jesus Christ on the earth , which at the same time sears the conscience towards any true convictions from the Holy Spirit to save, preserve & keep God's people. In fact, the good ( very good & easy) feelings of this deceit rejects these Holy Spirit convictions and sometimes may misinterpret it as "spirit of fear" instead so that its easy to reject these dealings from God and allows them to carry on the way they want it to stay..( without them knowing it most of the time as their spiritual senses have become dulled )

An example in this topic is this most often quoted verse..." Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved"......end of story. ( as if there's nothing else there to add, just believe and that's it! )

When a person believes in someone, wouldn't it be logical to say that they will also believe in what the person they believe in has to say or teach or command? That's true "believe", isn't it? It comes with actions to follow the person you believe in..But when there's over emphasis in "just believe" without any actions necessary at all, doesn't that cause one to think? What kind of God and what kind of character does He have if He says to His people..."Ok now, you've said the sinner's prayer already and I heard it, so from now on, no matter what you do or try to to do to get away from Me, YOU CAN'T! You're on your way to Heaven even if you continue in your old ways or become worse..I've promised you that No one, not even you yourself can pluck yourself from both our Hands!!" Is this the comfort & security Christians are resting in?? There needs to be a balance in item 7) don't you think?

Any way, this is just my two cents on the topic and I'm only sharing this out of love and openness, seeing that this wonderful forum is full of sincere and genuine brothers and sisters in Christ ( some of whom I'm familiar with for some years ).. hope no one interprets this as putting any fear or negativeness or discouragment  into anyone but nevertheless, its something to ponder over, yes? I really appreciate your posting so many relevant verses for all to look and re-look at with regards to this topic..everyone of them is indeed the very Word of God reminding us to keep and obey every of His instuctions and commands till we die or till He returns...

With regards to this topic, recently, I believe He opened my understanding of Matthew 7: 20-23,  ( which I take this opportunity to share with you since we're on this topic ) in such a view point that I know its from Him without a doubt....( because its really easy and simple but somehow we ( always ) never "saw it quite like that before" until its "opened" to us by the Holy Spirit..and that's  His "trademark" and you will know beyond a doubt that what He's showing you IS THE TRUTH, if you know what I mean..at least that's the conviction.. )

20Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. ( KJV )

He "walk" me through the above verses while I was still sleeping at around 4 or 5am, so whether I was fully awake or not while it happened, i'm not really sure...( but I remember it clearly, though not word for word, but the substance of it  )

My understanding and focus on verse 20 is "their" and "fruits"...since The Word says what it means and means what it says..."their" means "their" ( not "HIS" eventhough its "caused" by Him, yet the "fruits" should also "reflect" His Character alive in His people....a whole refreshing view point that requires only a close intimate relationship "bothways" in order to be achiveable in a Christian's walk )

Next in verses 21 and 22, in line and flow with verse 20, He starts with "not everyone", meaning that not everyone who believes and calls themselves as Christians, proven by the fact that they KNOW that they ARE DOING or HAD DONE everything that has been taught or told to them about "being a Christian" like, sincerely praying the sinners prayer and therefore able  ( qualified, so to speak ) to call Him "Lord" in v.21......BUT, even these ( who have accepted Him as Lord and Saviour ) may not necessarily be allowed to enter the kingdom of heaven.....EXCEPT for those "who doeth the will of His Father...." ( don't faint, just read it carefully again, I didn't write it )

And then it continues to elaborate further in v.22 so that the reader will not be mistaken that these are indeed Christians He's talking about here by saying that they ( these Christians ) are confident that they had "done it right" according to "His Word" by teaching and prophesying in His Name ( even perhaps "giving all the glory to Him" as well )....even to the extend that demons were cast out as futher evidence that they were doing it right and are Christians because Satan cannot cast out Satan using His Name while they were going every where witnessing or sharing His words of life and salvation...and even more futher evidences are presented and given about their many other good works being done in HIs Name to prove their "legal" rights to enter heaven........but, alas, as sure and as real as God's Word is, they will only hear Him say to them after ALL their cases had been heard out....." I NEVER KNEW YOU, DEPART FROM ME, YE THAT WORKETH INIQUITY! " ( v.23 )

Its shocking and sobering to realize that this is found in His Word. I woke up and stayed still before Him to try and figure out whether I was only imagining it all or not but I soon heard the soft voice of the Holy Spirit impressig on me that these verses were purposely put there for the purpose of making sure that when anyone reads it, it will not be mistaken that these are not Christians being talked about in these verse as ONLY Christians would know how to present their individual cases to the Lord in this manner...non christians or non believers would NOT know how to talk to the Lord like that!!

The real issue on this not to just "brush" it off by simply declaring that these people found in these verses were "never saved in the first place" and listen to the filp side of the item 7) mentioned earlier but rather see it as a great opportunity to ask the Lord now before its too late, that all important and life changing question....How come a Christian and believer CAN be found to be in such a position in Your Word? At least this will be another cause to seek and search and dig deeper to ask and listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to the Church and to individuals..

Please don't lash out at me for sharing this and just say that this is bringing a 'spirit of fear" or something which you may be thinking is "not in line" with your believe if you're reading this and therefore its not from God and miss the all important and all saving/ correcting conviction of the Holy Spirit which He wants to do in your life. You may not need this but there just may be one person who may be reading this and knows that God is talking to him/her and they know that they had backslided from God in their hearts and would like to allow this article to sink into their spirit....God Bless..

If someone handed you a bulletin on Sunday morning with this outline, what would you say this sermon was about? 

The first part, Matthew 5, 6 & part of 7, are clearly the do's and do not's of the law.   

Would you agree that Christ is laying out the perfect standard by which anyone, under the law, would have to meet in order to be sure of attaining the kingdom of heaven [remember, He is speaking to the Jews here, and before His death and resurrection, so they are still "under law".]

The second part, the latter half of Matthew 7 is the warnings - false prophets, false disciples.

Would you agree that Christ is clearly identifying such as these as "not of Him" when He calls them false and says "I never knew you"?

How then, can they be Christians?

SC - You start out with verse 20, which says:

²⁰Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them

Who is the "them" being referred to here?  We cannot idenify them by the verses which follow. We have to back up a bit to see the answer.  Jesus starts this part of the sermon by identifying....false prophets

    15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Would you not agree that a false prophet, by definition, is not a true prophet?  And if not true, then not Christian?

30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

 48But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

False Teachers and Their Destruction
1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority.
Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings; 11 yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgment on them from the Lord. 12 But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish.
13 They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. 14 With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! 15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness. 16 But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—an animal without speech—who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
17 These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. 18 For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” 20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. 22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
