I’m not real big on dreams but I have had one or two relevant to this post recently, so I decided to share.
God’s ways are not our ways; and I mean way not like our ways. And in addition, to be frank with you; I’m of the feeling that we will SOON be in Heaven for eternity.
So I wonder, what about those people we really don’t like in this life/world that you think/fear might make it into Heaven? 😯 . How does God handle that?
Since my landlord retired he has become a constant pain in the butt, as he no longer has a life of his own; so he wants to run everybody else’s.
Last week I had a dream in which his best friend, HB (died last summer as a believer/repentant sinner), appeared and advised me not to stress about him, as he would not be in Heaven as I currently understood it to be.
Last night I had a dream involving an angel and Heaven. We were on a beautiful street of glory. There were people(they seemed unaware of me), but it was not mobbed. Suddenly my mom stepped up to say hello. I immediately asked her about dad. She smiled sweetly and mentioned that he and I never could get along so now he couldn’t “come through”.
I asked the angel about all the pleasant people on this street; and he replied that these were people I might have known on earth if I had kept my attention on Jesus, instead of allowing myself to be tied up with people I didn’t like.
    Who knew?

Strange. I thought all dream posts went straight to moderation.
I must have been dreaming. 😆

I could be pious and say that everyone loves everyone in heaven, which I’m sure they will. (Honestly, I wonder how that works, too.) It’s a good question, as I’ve got people I hope will be in heaven, and yet we aren’t on the same frequency in this life. The only way I can imagine us being the greatest of friends in eternity would be for one or both of us to change our thoughts radically. Naturally, I see them as getting the bigger makeover. (I could always be mistaken about that, however.)

It isn’t always an issue about sin. Sometimes we encounter people who just don’t have much within them that resonates with our interests and preferences. The only alternatives I can think of is that either some people will barely be recognizable from their old selves, or else God will group together those who are like-minded.

That is actually my hope. I take comfort in that God created tribes for Israel.
If we with our crude mentality can put all the bass over here, and all the baritones over there, etc…
Then I am confident God will be able to set each saint in Heaven just perfectly.

I Am the Lord! Besides Me there is no Savior. For there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved!...For in him we live, and move, and have our being!

I’ve thought about this a lot. I think in Heaven, even those we didn’t like much,
or get along with, or those who harmed us in some way–we will LOVE with a fervent
and genuine LOVE. One of the things I hope to be allowed to see is reunions with
those who have every right to hate one another. Like for instance…..Uriah the
Hittite, who is called a righteous man in Scripture. David basically murdered him
to cover up his sin(s). I believe that Uriah and David have a true and deep friendship
even ask we speak. I don’t think that every time Uriah walks by David he’s grumbling
under his breath or sneaking hateful looks David’s way. I don’t understand it, but
God’s way is higher than mine. Saul/Paul was standing near Stephen’s stoning, holding
cloaks, assenting to the murder. I believe in Heaven, Paul and Stephen love one another
deeply. Before our tears are wiped away, perhaps profound apologies which lead to
complete reconciliations happen. What a joy to witness. It makes me tear up to just
    think about it.
Perhaps the greatest love between two Christians in Heaven will be between those
who have the most just cause for hatred–between those whom MUCH has been forgiven.
Reconciliation is such a gorgeous, gorgeous word.

I figure that those I dislike, which are surprisingly few, will not be in heaven without having undergone a fundamental change. They will be far more like Christ than I am now, and I expect that we’ll get along just fine. Likewise I will also have undergone a fundamental change, and will be able to love quite a bit better than I currently can, so again no problems. And finally, there will be a whole lot of people in heaven. More than we are likely to be able to meet, let alone greet in at least the first 7 years and possibly the first 1007 years. So perhaps He’ll keep us in the midst of those we love best. Or perhaps He’ll keep us near people we had never learned to love down here so that we can continue to grow more like Him up there.

In any case, I trust that it will be a whole lot better than anything I can imagine and amazingly much better than down here.

I am convinced of this, that the One who began a good action among you will bring it to completion by the Day of the Messiah Jesus. Philippians 1:6

GREAT topic. I don’t think there’ll be anyone we don’t like once we get to Heaven, but I think we might be surprised about who’s there, especially if some of them are people we didn’t like on earth. I think it’s one of God’s ways of humbling us.

Indeed redemption, renewal, and the light and love of Christ shall change many. What doesn’t get accomplished here and now shall certainly be accomplished in Heaven. Although that here and now I don’t have to like everyone, but simply show them the love of Christ, as I can. I also believe that our overriding joy and love of God shall buffet any differences or dislikes. There shall be complete harmony within the whole body! I can only imagine that there will be some that I might love or enjoy more than others, but will have no ill feelings towards any of the saints!

Would 7 churches solve that problem??? B-)

I don’t know. It isn’t so much our theological differences which would be a barrier, since we’d all have the truth before us. The sort of things I had in mind are more about the way artists and accountants view the world in different ways, or those who talk incessantly as opposed to people who speak with few words.

I’ve known people who had such contrary personalities to my own that I might conclude we were born on different planets. It wasn’t that I thought the person could not possibly be a Christian, just that their mannerisms were so at odds with what I could understand that I’d really prefer to keep some distance between us.

Funny thing is, I recognize they might just as easily have trouble relating to me. I especially don’t do well with chit chat, or when people start conversations with, “Cold enough for ya?” and the like. If they’d just say they’re cold and let that be it, that would be wonderful.

When I moved to Michigan in 1974 there was a boy in my class who hated me. I hated him too so we were even. One day on the playground we got into it. We shoved each other and called each other all kinds of names. At one point it became overly ridiculous and we both broke out in laughter. We were best friends until I moved away a few years later.

Whatever the mechanism is that creates dissension among us will not be present in our new bodies. Our “meat sack”, as TxThom so wonderfully refers to them, is marvelous for its duties on terra firma but it is grossly insufficient for where we are going. What ever it was that we didn’t like about that person will no longer be a problem for us.

Baruch shem kivod leolam va’ed. Barukh attah adonai melekh m’hulal batishbachot. (Blessed be His glorious majesty forever and ever. Blessed are You, Lord
a King to be praised in adoration.)

I think we will all be united in a way we cannot imagine when we get to heaven. We see but a small glimpse of what it will be like when we join together with fellow believers here on earth. But I still think we will have a group of favorite people in heaven, and maybe even a few groups. I know I will be with my family, whom I love so much, and I know I will gather with my “church” here on earth, including all I have met here. But I think I will also have a new, special group, whose relationships have been saved just for eternity. Eternity is a long time! If we can build such lasting and loving relationships here on earth in a few decades time, imagine how we will develop loving relationships over eternity! Throw in the fact that we will all be perfect, no jealousy and backbiting, and it will be glorious!

One more little thing, I have moments where I try to imagine what it will be like to arrive in heaven and imagine meeting up with all those I love. It’s a weird thing, but it always comes back to Jesus. I try to imagine meeting my children, husband and parents and all I can really think of is meeting Jesus. I think that is what it will be like. Jesus will always be the focus, and I believe he will be front and center in all of our little groups and relationships.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Thanks, TxThom. I believe people fail to figure on just how big heaven might be when they consider the other side. 😉

    GREAT topic.

Thank you. I can only take so much of stuff like Stephen Fry or Katy Perry, before my soul cries out why are we looking in a direction we are not headed. :negative:

I agree, there will be some in Heaven with which I will have a greater affinity for than others. But all in all, I can’t wait to exist in a state of perfect and eternal love! Nor can I wait for that time to begin! All I can say is that my hope in the Rapture increases exponentially with every day that passes. I am already claiming in my heart that this is the year. Forgive my impulsive and rash statement, but I just can’t wait to see my creator God, face to face! And when I do, I shall no doubt see many of your faces reflected in His!

If the Lion and the lamb will lie down together,I don’t think we will have trouble getting along with anyone. Remember both our body and mind will be re-created. :yahoo:
