There’s something that disturbs me about this. Jesus is our Mediator. I don’t understand this portal stuff. What about those who are imprisoned, etc. and can’t go to their “portals”. Jesus meets us where we are at and promised never to leave us or forsake us. I talk with the Lord all day long, no matter where I am. Do I need to find a portal in order for the Lord to hear me? Where does it say that I need to find a portal in Scripture, in order for God to hear me?December 12, 2013 at 8:05 pm #16128
Yeah, I didn’t want to comment on this one, but I felt the same thing.
I watched the entire video, and it just didn’t sit right with me. I don’t think Stone is arguing that God can’t hear you outside of these “portals”, but he’s certainly suggesting that there are specific geographical locations where “praying is easier and your prayers are heard more readily”. It struck me as bordering on heresy, to be honest.
Hebrews speaks so powerfully about the fact that we have just one mediator: Jesus Christ, and that our access to the throne of God is on the basis of His blood, and nothing more or less than His blood. In fact, Paul goes to great lengths to address the issue of the temple, stating that we now come, not to a temple made by hands, but to the throne of grace itself, just as Christ appears in the presence of God for us (Hebrews 9:24).
Why, then, did Christ die, if we can add to that sacrifice and add to that mediation, by being in special places with “portals” to the throne room of God? Hebrews continues to state that we can draw near because we “have boldness to enter the Holiest place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way that He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh”, and that, “having a High Priest over the house of God”, we may “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water”.
Scripture is clear. The blood of Jesus Christ draws us nearer to the throne of God the Father than any “portal” ever can or will. “For by Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18).December 12, 2013 at 8:16 pm #16131
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;… (Matthew 27:50-52)
And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. (Mark 15:38)
Meaning, when the veil was rent, we have direct access to boldly go before the Throne of God.
