This morning Ezekiel 39:13 would not leave me alone! While I was in study and worship this morning, the verse kept coming back to me. I generally will not ignore a scripture that keeps coming to mind. So, here it is:

“Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.” – KJV

“All the people of the land will bury them, and the day I display my glory will be a memorable day for them, declares the Sovereign LORD.” – NIV

“All the people of the land will bury them, and it will be a memorialfor them on the day I magnify myself, declares the sovereign LORD.” – NET

As you can see different words are used: renown, memorable, memorial

So, I went and looked at Strong’s:

    Strong’s Hebrew Definition for # 08034

    08034 // Mv // shem // shame //

a primitive word [perhaps rather from 07760 through the idea of
    definite and conspicuous position; TWOT – 2405; n m

    AV – name 832, renown 7, fame 4, famous 3, named 3, named + 07121 2,
    famous + 07121 1, infamous + 02931 1, report 1, misc 10; 864

    1) name
    1a) name
    1b) reputation, fame, glory
1c) the Name (as designation of God)
    1d) memorial, monument

Now, I understand that this scripture could mean that on the day that God stops Gog – that particular day becomes a memorial, the day that God sanctified His holy name and the world realizes Israel is His people. I get that and that is how I read the scripture too.

    Until…

The thought came to mind, what if the Lord meant that He would stop Gog on a day that was a memorial, day of remembrance for Israel?

Being ever so full of curiosity, I decided to look up memorial days for Israel. Those were the key terms I used. The first entry to come back was this:

    https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/yom-ha-shoah-holocaust-memorial-day

    First paragraph:

    Establishment of the Holiday

“The full name of the day commemorating the victims of the Holocaust is “Yom Hashoah Ve-Hagevurah”-in Hebrew literally translated as the “Day of (remembrance of) the Holocaust and the Heroism.” It is marked on the 27th day in the month of Nisan — a week after the end of the Passover holiday and a week before Yom Hazikaron (Memorial Day for Israel’s fallen soldiers). It marks the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.”

Did you catch the name of this day?

    Yom Hashoah Ve
    Hagevurah

YHVH – the designation of God

Now, let’s take a look (again) at Strong’s:

    Strong’s Hebrew Definition for # 08034

    08034 // Mv // shem // shame //

a primitive word [perhaps rather from 07760 through the idea of
    definite and conspicuous position; TWOT – 2405; n m

    AV – name 832, renown 7, fame 4, famous 3, named 3, named + 07121 2,
    famous + 07121 1, infamous + 02931 1, report 1, misc 10; 864

    1) name
    1a) name
    1b) reputation, fame, glory
1c) the Name (as designation of God)
    1d) memorial, monument

I highlighted “infamous” because what is an infamous memorial for the Jewish people? The Holocaust

There has been much debate as to when the holocaust Memorial Day should be (see the article) but for some reason, the nation of Israel have chosen Nisan 27, instead of other fasting memorial days such as the 9th of Av…

Makes you wonder, maybe the answer is in Ezekiel 39:13…

But what are the chances that a Memorial Day for the Holocaust which, interestingly enough, the name for spells out YHVH if you take the first letter of each word?

And what poetic justic if Israel was attacked by the Gog/Magog coalition on that day, seeking to destroy Israel (another holocaust) and God wipes them off the map, sanctifying His holy name (YHVH).

    Just food for thought.. :rose:
