    Hi There:

Watching the board over the last two days, I see that people who are not going to be transitioning over to Facebook are already saying their goodbyes. (Uggghhh! I hate goodbyes.) This has me pondering personally what I am going to do if we are still here on June 5th. As I see it, our options include:
    1) Open a Facebook account and participate with RITAN in that environment
    2) Sign up for another rapture Forum website that does not require Facebook and participate there.
    3) Become a lurker again on some other non-Facebook rapture forum
    4) Withdraw completely (not really inclined to this one much)

In asking the Lord what He would have me do next in this regard, I have thought about the time, effort and commitment it takes to be a regular poster who tries to make substantive contributions to the fellowship here. I wanted to say thank you specifically to those whom I have benefited from and been blessed by over the past two years–especially those who have regularly and faithfully contributed even when the board was particularly quiet. You know who you are and, more importantly, so does the Lord. Thank you.

In contemplating what’s next, I wanted to ask for some candid feedback from you. This is a bit awkward, as I know I run the risk of appearing as self-serving, but that is really not the motivation of my heart. I found myself wondering today if my time and effort posting here over the last 18-24 months (I think that’s how long it’s been, but not really sure) has really helped/benefited/blessed anyone in any meaningful way? I’m really not looking for a patronizing pat on the back or a “gee, we think you’re swell” kind of compliment. I am really trying to accurately assess whether the Lord has used my participation to make a difference, in any sort of meaningful way, or if that participation is nothing more than me having an outlet to share my thoughts with other like-minded believers. My hope and desire is to think it is the former, but without some candid feedback I honestly have no way of knowing for sure. Maybe it should not matter to me, and the fact that it does reveals a character flaw of on my part. If that is true, please ask the Lord to convict and heal me in that area. In the meantime, the answer to the question will be helpful to me as I try to figure out what’s next.

So, here is what I am asking. If you feel like my contribution here has been a blessing and encouragement to you, maybe you could let me know that. If not, that’s perfectly OK. Either way, I am thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of RITAN. You all have blessed and encouraged me greatly through a very difficult season of my life. Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Yeshua Ha Mashiach. (Even if I do not follow to Facebook, I am still looking forward to meeting each of you at the RITAN table at the marriage supper of the Lamb.) :Hi:

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

You have been a blessing to me, and I hope you transition over to FB. If you just can’t bring yourself to do that, I would recommend Benjamin’s site which can be found under the Prayers for Shiloh thread. Just don’t post anything about celestial signs etc over there. Those kinds of issues is why he started his own forum rather than stay here, as I understand it. He was also missed, although we still get to interact on FB, even before this transition began.

I am convinced of this, that the One who began a good action among you will bring it to completion by the Day of the Messiah Jesus. Philippians 1:6

I have always appreciated your posts, Watchman. I don’t post as much as I used to but I still read here daily.

I would say create a profile for FB and join Ritan there. I use FB for music promotion, but I actually enjoy posting Christian stuff….feels like a very punk rock thing to do these days. I like probably being on a government Christian watch list somewhere. Lol.

Punk rock used to be drugs, no morals, sexual promiscuity. Now that is the majority and rebelling is actually loving Jesus Christ and depending on Him.

Yes, Watchman 35, your contribution here has been a blessing and encouragement to me. You have been kind, thoughtful, informative and encouraging. :Hi:

I also haven’t decided about FB. I tried it a little bit years ago, but got a check in my spirit about it and have avoided it since then. I may try again, perhaps with a new account, as I don’t want to lose the wonderful fellowship I have found here.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

I have thought about the time, effort and commitment it takes to be a regular poster who tries to make substantive contributions to the fellowship here.

This may or may not feel relevant, Watchman, but consider this which, as I read it, the prophet was feeling in Isaiah 49:4

Then I said, ‘I have labored in vain,
    I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain;
Yet surely my just reward is with the Lord,
And my work with my God.’

So you’re in good company at least. Don’t sweat it. A hymn called “Our Best” popped into my mind from my childhood, whose refrain says, “Every work for Jesus will be blessed…”

Yeah, it’s natural for us to confirm our imagined impact, e.g., checking who “liked,” or how many “thanked” our posts, and it’s even nicer to receive instant honest and relevant feedback from active posters, but in any case whether your work for God was on RITA or FB or even over the phone or in person, we are still certain to hear, “Well done good and faithful servant…!” That is enough. And you know it’s coming soon!

I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes -- I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! Job19:25-27

This is very ironic, quite possibly a God thing, that you wrote this post, Watchman. Before you even wrote it, I received a message from a woman yesterday (not sure if she wants me to say her name) who has been reading the site for the past year. I would have posted this message to you yesterday, but I was traveling. Anyway, She told me that you were such a blessing to her and she wrote this about you:

“I’m writing because I have so enjoyed the comments from Watchman35. He is one of my favorite posters – he writes so well and has so much insight. If I could, I would tell Watchman35 this myself. I just read his post about his uncertainty about joining FB. I completely understand as I am completely the same way. However, I decided to join only for the sake of the RITAN site and that’s it. No one knows I’m on FB except RITAN members. So could you please pass on a message to Watchman35 that it is possible to have a great deal of privacy and only join for the purposes of RITAN. I understand his apprehension but I thought maybe hearing it from someone else who shares his concerns, but so wants his input, perhaps he may join. Thank you for helping to pass this along.”

She wrote that before your post here.

After you wrote it she said this:

“Please let Watchman35 know that a day before he even asked, I wanted him to know that he is very much wanted on FB. If I could get on the RITAN site, I would certainly let him know myself how valuable his insights have been to me, especially in working through my grief. He doesn’t realize how God has used him, in spite of all that he’s been through. Thanks again.”

You have been a blessing to so many here, and I hate to think of you not being with us. Like your friend here that loves you, she joined Facebook just for RITAN and nothing else. We have 270 members on RITAN Facebook now, and I know they would all greet you with open arms. Pray about it, and do as you feel led to do. If you decide to join, I will help you any way I can.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Your posts bless me, as well. Your posts are articulate and thoughtful, and reflect a heart for God in them.

    Hi Watchman35,

The topic of your struggle with Lymes, the subsequent prayers asked for and answered in relation to enough recovery for you to persue and gain employment, blessed me.

Your story and outcome also helped me to come forward and humbly ask for prayer myself from you all for my current health circumstances, which the Lord has answered inspired by you. 🙂

Home from work and feeling very spent today. Our 14-year-old pug (think he is 14, maybe 15), George, (born on President’s Day and named in honor of George Washington) is pretty sick. Hacking cough that wakes us up throughout the night. Not much sleep the past few nights (him or us) and dealing with the sadness of probably having to put him down soon. Blind. Does not hear well. Getting more and more disoriented. How I hate death! Even for our pup. Got a golden doodle named Ella as well. Probably could have called them Oscar and Felix (LOL, though perhaps lost on some of our younger RITAN members). They become like family members. Those of you dog lovers know exactly what I am talking about. Nothing cuter than a pug puppy. But I digress…

The real reason I wanted to jump on here is to express my sincere appreciation to each of you who has taken the time to respond to this thread. Your words of encouragement and affirmation are very meaningful to me and I thank you for them. Initially, I was going to try to wordsmith a response to each of you individually, but as I started down that path I became aware of the concern that I risked potentially offending someone by seeming to be more appreciative of one response than another. They are all meaningful to me and they are all appreciated. So, please forgive me for, at least in one sense, taking “the easy way out” with a collective thank you note.

I am continuing to ask the Lord for wisdom and guidance in terms of what He would have me do moving forward, if we are still here after the RITAN website shuts down following Pentecost on June 4th. Of course, this relatively insignificant dilemma becomes a moot point in the event that our Bridegroom gets the signal from Abba to come get us before then. That’s a pleasant thought, huh? Well, I expect I will continue to monitor and post here on RITAN through the next few weeks until the site goes away, at which point the reality of it and you being gone will force me into a decision as to what comes next.

Again, thank you for taking time to share feedback with me. I know, in the end, we “perform” for an audience of One and that only what He thinks ultimately matters. At the same time, and that truth notwithstanding, it is still very encouraging to know that the Lord has allowed me to be used in some small way to be a blessing and encouragement to others. May He be glorified in all things!!! Maranatha, Lord Yeshua!!!

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. It’s all about me, and my original sin.
See! If the Rapture had been completed by 2015 we wouldn’t have to be going through this angst right now!
Posting here revealed to me just how obtuse I can be. But, it also gave me a new found respect for my poetic nature.
Beginning in 2016, wherever I showed up the light showed up. This must have really ticked off Mr Satan , cause the attacks have been consistent since then. I receive grace, but not much more. I am caught in a circling flight path from hell.
I am not much into conspiracy theories, because I think they serve as a distraction from the Word. Therefore, I am not one to comment on the dark side of FB. The world is going to hell in a hand basket. I may decide to ride along, too.

Hey Watchman35, I saw you have signed up on raptureforum.net (http://rapturewatch.boards.net). Say Hi next time. I’m the old sheep presently called “OnTheVerge!” Been there for years, (you can see the members and such info by clicking on the members button), and guess what: they really love Jesus there too!

By the way, if you are inclined to look up at the RITA Facebook group, I decided this morning to fly stealth under the NWO radar by signing up as Dan WhiteStone. Don’t anyone tell them..! Oh well, they probably know already. But we won’t need incognito in a few weeks. What an awesome thought!

PS – Your posts have been top notch here for a long time.

Watchman, you’ve been a blessing to me and many others here at Ritan.
Although FB setting is different from a forum setting it is still a good way to keep in touch with those we love and care about. You can do both, join a forum and FB.

I’m not a huge fan of FB but I’ve had an account for years which I rarely post on.
The purpose was to maintain a contact place for old friends and coworkers, distant family members and some close family that live far away.I’ve never had any problems.

My settings are kept as private as possible and I don’t use my full legal name. Even though I don’t have a lot of time to spend on social media, it serves a purpose for me.

Until the Lord calls us up,Hoping you take the plunge!

That would be a dynamic of thought and exchange that I would greatly miss.

BTW, I found it interesting that 88 Reasons for Jesus Returning in ’88 played a role in your becoming a watcher (according to your profile info). Sadly, that same book apparently contributed to the transformation of a pastor at a church I attended last year into a skeptic who seems to use the book as an excuse to doubt the Lord’s imminent return and to avoid preaching about end-time prophecy. Quite a stark contrast of impact.

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I signed up but never posted there so long ago that I don’t remember who I am!!

I Am the Lord! Besides Me there is no Savior. For there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved!...For in him we live, and move, and have our being!

LOL! Me, too! It took a while at FB, but I finally found out who I am – turns out I used my real name. (Who would have thought?) In the pursuit of finding myself, I came across some site that had my name, address, phone number and said I was married and a Republican. I never married, and I registered as an Independent in 1973. Makes you wonder where sites on the internet get their info. In this case, probably voter rolls since I’ve always voted Republican, but I think I would remember if I’d ever been married! When I was looking at my old FB page, my birthday suddenly popped up filling the page. I don’t know where that came from, but it was startling!

I really would like to have a second account at FB to be used soley for the RITAN group, but I don’t think that’s allowed, and I think even if you use another name, FB uses your computer’s IP address to identify you. Does anyone here know if it can be done?

They may track your IP address (most website do), but that’s not an impediment to multiple accounts. Many families have several family members each with their own account. Just to prevent confusion, I’d use a different email account but those are easy enough to set up for free.

That’s hilarious. Reminds me of an old “shtick” (a Yiddush word for a comedy routine) that my dad would quote from an old Jewish comedian named Jackie Mason (lots of his stuff very ungodly and crude, but this one was clean and funny). He told the story about a guy who was searching for himself and went to a psychiatrist to get some help. The psychiatrist was asking him all sorts of questions theoretically designed to help the guy “find himself”. Then at one point, the patient looks at the psychiatrist and says, “What happens if while I’m looking for myself I find out the real me is you, and you owe me $100 for the session.” Might be one of those jokes where you “had to be there”, but that’s what your post reminded me of. Sorry if the humor gets lost in the translation into a Rapture Forum post. LOL.
