Judge Antonin Scalia’s funeral service was held yesterday. No matter what happened here, we know that if his heart belonged to Jesus what happened when he left. Father God, comfort his loved ones and shelter them in Your arms, wipe all tears from their eyes.

This song by Selah is so true for every Christian with the words- “it don’t matter where you bury me, I’ll be home and I’ll be free”, and “all my tears be washed away”.

The picture at the 3:23 point near the end of the video reminded me today of dear Lisaleenie. She is in the joyful presence of Jesus, the One she loved and longed to see. Looking forward to the day we will all be caught up and reunited in the Father’s house.

“FAITHFUL ONE” by Selah (for us, still here, still waiting and walking out our assignments)

For I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

(In this catechism for the country, (Paul) Scalia wanted everyone to know a central teaching of the Catholic faith, that most people do not go straight to Heaven as Protestants believe, but that people must be purified before meeting their Maker…)

    (Paul) Scalia said:

As we mourn someone we love, we pray for him, we pray for the repose of his soul. We know that although Dad believed, he did so imperfectly, like the rest of us. He loved God and neighbor, but imperfectly, like to rest of us. He practiced his faith, but had not yet perfected it; Christ had not yet perfected it in him. We are here, then, to lend our prayers to that perfecting in freeing Dad from every encumbrance of sin.

Scalia asked that no one offer his father the “false love that would deprive him of our prayers. We will do good by praying for him, that his sins are washed away, and he is purified of all that is not Christ.”

Many know that Justice Scalia did not like funerals that turn into eulogies for the deceased, that he believed funerals should only be about Christ…:

We are here because of a man known personally by many of us, known by reputation by many more, loved by many, scorned by others, a man of great controversy and great compassion. That man, of course, is Jesus of Nazareth. It is Him who we proclaim. It is because of Him, His life, death, and resurrection that we do not mourn as those who have no hope, but in confidence. So we commend Antonin Scalia to the will of God.

I Am the Lord! Besides Me there is no Savior. For there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved!...For in him we live, and move, and have our being!

Rocki, thank you so much for sharing what was said and the pictures of Judge Scalia. I especially loved the last two paragraphs.
