    Here’s a funny coincidence.

With all this talk about the Jubilee year – I just saw on TV last night, tonight CBS is airing the 50th anniversary of the Charlie Brown “it’s the Great Pumpkin”

Lol, that’s got to count for something!

For those unfamiliar or wondering what in the world this has to do with the rapture, the story is, while all of the other peanuts have fun trick or treating on Halloween, Linus spends each Halloween waiting in the pumpkin patch waiting for a mythical “Great Pumpkin” to arrive to bring him treats. Of coarse said Great Pumpkin never arrives, and each year Linus is mocked as a blockhead.

Often I feel like Linus. While the world is unburdened by the events that are destroying it and is like the trick or treaters just cavorting for fun, I’m like Linus only instead of a pumpkin patch on Halloween – I’m usually waiting on Rosh Hashanna, or keeping watch on Passover or Pentecost waiting for my Great Jesus to arrive, but every year I have to endure the mocking of the scoffers and feel more and more like a blockhead.

I feel like ol Charlie Brown himself sometimes just wanting to give a good ol kick to that football just once, that always seems to get jerked away from me at the last minute.

But here’s a thought for a laugh that just came to me all you peanuts fans – in this metaphor, Lucy is Jesus, the devil is Charlie Brown and WE ARE the football!

Just likely to get snatched away at the very last minute before the devil gives us a big ol kick and Jesus laughs at the foolishness of the devil as he lands flat on his back!

Anyway, I’m still holding out hope that we are in the tail end of a jubilee year until the conclusion of tabernacles, and that the something big is about to happen!

Hopefully the Great Pumpkin’s Jubilee is one more sign of that lol!

This is a great analogy R.N. Thanks for the laugh and yet … Well laughter is good medicine. Surrounded by so much evil we need to remember to laugh. Gee, that sounds like advice from Lucy.

The eyes of the Lord range throughout the entire earth, to strengthen those whose heart is true to him.

I Am the Lord! Besides Me there is no Savior. For there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved!...For in him we live, and move, and have our being!

Now I am going to watch it again for sure and think about your analogy while I do. Laughter is the best medicine for our current watcher fatigue-
    Thanks for sharing!! :good:

"and all creation sing with me now, lift up your voice and lay your burdens down...let all of creation sing with me now fill up the heavens let HIs glory resound, and every knee will bow, oh in every tongue praise the Father, praise the Son and the Spirit in One!!"

Maybe Antichrist is the “Not so Great Pumpkin” that will rise out of the patch this year.

I don’t think he would appreciate that new title but I think it fits.

When I was 11 years old, I was in an acting class that was comprised of mostly girls, like myself. We acted scenes from the Great Pumpkin, and because I was taller than most, I had to play Charlie Brown. I had to keep going from door to door saying, “I got a rock.” (instead of candy). To this day, I sometimes think or say, “I got a rock” when things don’t go my way. But these days I’m reminded of Matthew 7:9 “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?”

Having to play Charlie Brown instead of Lucy was like getting a rock to me, so I really played the part with feeling!

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Love this thread! I read it at work on a break earlier today. Made me smile. The Peanuts gang holds a special place in my heart. It was Linus, as best as I can remember, who first shared with me the true meaning of Christmas in their Christmas special. I really think that may have been the first seed of the gospel planted in my heart. Charles Schulz was known to be a follower of Christ. I look forward to thanking him when I get to see him. I love the parallel of the world thinking we watchers are blockheads as we wait day after day for our Great God to return for us like He promised He would. Unlike the Great Pumpkin, our Great God is real and faithful. Truthfully, I felt like a blockhead most of my BC life. I am grateful beyond words to be able to now be a blockhead with purpose, a blockhead for the Name that is the One Name given among men by which we must be saved. As for the Halloween special, the scene I enjoyed the most was when Snoopy hid in the barrel where they were bobbing for apples–and then the “Red Baron” emerged from the water sharing the same apple with Lucy. “Dog germs, yuck.” My Golden Doodle and pug find that scene quite offensive. :Hi: LOL

John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

We have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of God's power may be of Him and not of us. 2 Cor. 4:7

I must confess, I just got done watching it again, and have myself a big smile. 🙂

Another thing that made me nostalgic was to look at those simple little peanuts, no cell phones or video games just happy to bob for apples! I’m dating myself of course, but the days of my childhood weren’t all that different!
